That tutorial does too, work. What is the name of the group you're trying to modify and may I please have your forum URL.

Simple, because the code said that any link pointing to the group url will have those effects. So obviously, only links pointing to the group page (like the link to the page in legend) will have the effect. CSS is really easy; at least try to learn from code you're given if you don't understand it already-- that's how I learnt and now I code in CSS all the time.
