If I am understanding what you posted, it is not possible to have it where in a forum that members can reply only to their own posts.

I suppose you could write a JS that checks the last post, and uses it to determine if the user can or can't post. Since the first post will be by the user, then nobody else will be able to post.

Well you can have it set for members to open topics, and read topics.
then have the permissions set not to reply to a message.
But then that means even the topic starter will not be able to reply to his message either, which would not matter because if no one can reply to a message then he would have no reason to answer LOL
Other then that the permissions in the list offered are the only way to set them, So you just have to work with that and set them as you see fit.
