I want to make bars, but they come up as folders!

I'm helping my friend with a forum. I'm going to add some categories and forums. But when I make a category it makes a new folder. I want it to be a line.
What I mean is..
For example, see this? http://duelinguniversity.forumotion.com/
It has Rules and support, Test center, etc.
But when I do it on my friend's academy it make a forum and I have to make the forums inside it.

And not
Other --> Chat room --> Topics
