icons for a smart phone question

hi , is there a way that if someone saves your forum to there smartphone it puts an icon on the screen rather than a screen shot .

i have had it when saving other sites and forums .

well on an iphone i would press add to home screen .

not sure on other phones though

Add the link of the webpage in a browser by bookmarking. Thats what i have done on Forumotion, added a bookmark via Safari Browser.

then it book marks it , doesn't ad an icon to the screen of the phone , if i add the site to home screen it will create an icon but not one the site generated , just a screen shot of the page at the time .

Add to home screen, adds a icon when clicked The browser opens the webpage. I just checked it. It works.

what does the icon look like ? mine just adds a screen shot for this forum and mine , other site and forums iv saved put there own little pic on to my home screen , maybe its my phone

It puts the cut image of how it appears in the browser (Safari)

my question is how can you get your site to generate a personal icon instead of the screen shot , some sites / forms do it , some don't , can we ?

You should probably ask this question on the android help/iphone help forums whichever your smartphone is.

for example if you to hotdaels.com and save to the home screen its ads its own icon , the site must be sending this info .

i guess we cant do it so i guess i have my answer .

You placed that in the wrong section.

its not my thread , its a thread that i was linked to that has the answers on it.

@ MrMario, it was a tutorial for how to get the icon working as it does on my forum and as TOASTIE wants to get it working on thier forum

i read a thread yesterday that says if users wish to submit a tutorial they should send it by pm to a admin so i did but the pm is stuck in my outbox because all the admins seem to be blocking pm's from users, there is no section titled as "support section" and as a mod told me i should post in in the support section, so without trolling though your hundereds of pages i cant find an appropriate section to post it to but it is in your inbox thanks.

the thread i posted is currently locked and in the garbage section, this i find funny because it would have been just as much work for a mod to move it to the garbage section as it would have been to move it to the right section for it to sit in.

If you want to submit a tutorial you must PM a staff member and a staff member will forward it to review. There was never a section or place to submit tutorials.

Looking at what Redmad did, he thought it was a support question. That would be a mistake on what the topic was for.
