In progress BBcodes using banners in post

Post by Paaske February 12th 2012, 8:42 pm

Hi there.

Sorry if I am asking stupid Smile

But I have just joined here. To build a nice gambling forum.

My problem is how can I post Affiliate banners etc?

I came from a different forum provider (will not mention name)..
But there i could go into Admin control panel. And under "Posting" I could choose Add BB codes.
And create them there separate.
Although I found that a bit annoying. As on a normal website, you can just copy paste the affiliate banner code into a box, and then banner will show straight away on site.
Instead of having to do it that difficult way.

But my big question is how can I post them here at Forumotion please?? Hello

Are you wanting to post the banners in posts?
To activate BBCode:
Administration Panel > General > Messages & Emails > Configuration
Allow BBCode: Yes
Press Save.

Hi there thanks for very quick answer Smile

In regards to activate BBcode I have managed to find this Smile

My issue is how to post them, hope this make sense...

Like this one >> (i will delete when help has been given or you can remove if not allowed)

<a href="http://affiliates.gowildgaming.com/BannerServer/Default.aspx?isClick=true&bTag=Aff_0396_517_&bTagID=10004752&cId=1544&lpId=2"> <img src="http://affiliates.gowildgaming.com/BannerServer/Default.aspx?isClick=false&bTag=Aff_0396_517_&bTagID=10004752&Img=26.gif" alt="" /> </a>

or this one

Iframe one

<iframe src='http://www.referback.com/staticbanner/index/8692/116577/' height = '250' width = '250' scrolling='no' frameborder='0'></iframe>

or

java script one

<SCRIPT LANGUAGE='Javascript' src='http://www.referback.com/staticbanner/index/8692/116577/js'></SCRIPT><noscript><a target='_blank' href='http://www.jackpotcity.com/?s=aff116577' title='JackpotCity Casino'><img style='border:none;' src='http://www.referback.com/media/JPC250x250usd_10043.GIF' alt='JackpotCity Casino' /></a></noscript>

I do not really wish to use java script.

As html and other is supposed to be better.

I also hope to hear from other gambling affiliates here who might know what I am asking hehe.

Code:
[url=Link To The Site][img]IMG Address[/img][/url]

If you are posting in posts, this code will make the banners clickable.

Then you need to activate HTML in posts.
Use the same path in the first post by SLG and activate HTML.

Hi thanks. I have it all activated.

But I need help how to post in forum. So banner will show up...

I have given examples with the different affiliate banner codes.

Please show me how to post them in forum threads.

Like for example this code > <iframe src='http://www.referback.com/staticbanner/index/8692/116577/' height = '250' width = '250' scrolling='no' frameborder='0'></iframe>

I need that to show up as banner in post.

Hope this makes sense Smile

I don't think Iframes will work in a post. You'll want to tell your affiliates that Iframe banners are not allowed only images.

Just enter the code in the text editor.
Example:
Code:
<iframe src='http://www.referback.com/staticbanner/index/8692/116577/' height = '250' width = '250' scrolling='no' frameborder='0'></iframe>

thank you very much for trying to help...
I seem to be very stupid sorry. Where can I find the text editor??
I know that there is a thing that shows different buttons like "insert flash" "code display" "others" etc.
I have tried with the different ones and marked the text with code and flash and so on.
But nothing happens it just shows the text Sad

The text editor is where you post your replies or start a new topic. Just copy and paste the code in it.

Make sure when you are in the text editor that HTML and BBCode say that they are on.

Strange how they allow Iframes. It can be a bit of a security risk.
You want to be careful allowing HTML in posts.

Members will have to check it in the profiles. There is no option in the administration panel. Members will be able to see posts with it in them.

Could you explain what you mean with this? I just need it to post my affiliate code for banners?

Well Iframes can contain scripts which might affect your page. Not to mention, you can't control the content within them. If you stick an Iframe in a post, the owner of the page within the Iframe can put any content on that page. Such as a redirection to their site.

Hi ok. Yes I have found lot myself now to be honest as well about security risks.

But there are no risks with the iframe ones i use. As its advertising for casinos etc. Smile

The contents of them can still be changed.
Also, remember, you have HTML activated in posts, so ANYBODY can post ANY HTML. Such as style tags, script tags, iframes. lots of dangerous things.
