Legal concerns/responsibilities *already read the FAQ section*

Post by mybeautifulana on February 21st 2012, 12:55 pm

To whom this may concern,

I created a website for help for those with eating disorders, it is stated that I am not a professional and it is also stated that the site does not encourage another to develop an eating disorder. The site encourages members to seek professional help and offers links to "ED-Recovery" sites and resources.

However, even though I do not condone eating disorders, could I be sued/legally responsible if a member commits suicide, dies or if their condition gets worse?

I have never recieved a warning from FM about the content, but now that I am getting older I am getting concerned about legal problems.

Thank you for your time!

I don't think anyone can sue you for that, unless you are telling them too.

You can be liable if you provide misinformation which is proven detrimental or the cause of the health of the user.

A good disclaimer stating what you say is purely advice and tips from experience or research and as you say professional help should be seeked out, will cover you, if written correctly.
