Invision vs. phpbb3

N00b question.

I've been using phpbb2 for a while, it's pretty great. Intrigued by the promise of new options for my members, that will make thier user experience smooth and easy and customisable.

I've found a post that gives a very brief over view of the differences, but I want to know the nitty gritty. I want to know EXACTLY what the differences between the types are.

I want the option for users to be able to write their own blogs too...something do-able?

Does either version have a more advanced gallery type?

I don't really want to make and tweak something, only to find some major down falls.

Is there anything really glaring that anyone doesn't like? Something missing?

Long winded post, but I'm sure there are loads of people who want to know this too...

Hi,

There's no additional options between each version here on forumotion. We all use similar coding, and are all based on PHPBB2 base coding - which I must admit, sucks but we can't do anything about it, for now.

This forum is a PHPBB3 forum, so it gives u an idea at what your switching to.
You can also check out the skins (In which are better in my opinion) that are available at hitskin via: http://hitskin.com )

Thanks for the reply! I had read something like that already. So if there is no discernable differences between them, why have the option at all? Is there one which gives you more customisation options? Is Invision actually better then phpbb3, or is the layout just slightly different?

Phobb3, because you can change more easily.A version for the lazy people

The main difference between Invision and phpBB 3 is how some options/features are laid out. For example with Invision, you have a drop down menu in posts under the username and in the member list.

how to make a vip member in phpbb3 ...

I prefer phpbb3 Because i been using it for a long time and i really am lazy to change it and add templates haha

I like more phpBB3 than Invision.

Invision. You can customize many things with css.

Invision, CSS has non-confusing names. Also, Dion's scripts work best on it.

I prefer phpBB3. So do my members.

PHPbb3. Because it is easy to custom.
