Solved post profile problem

Post by APE on March 3rd 2012, 8:25 pm

Theme version: Theme version phpBB3

Hi I'm working on a forums as an admin and i've been asked by the founder why we can not place the post profile on the left hand side of the page we have set it for the right but found thatit's not moved over
i have come to thinking that the code must be changed in the Css files or some thing i have aded the toggle tool to the Java files and it works but when we refersh the page or post anything it moves right back to the right hand side again
is there any one here that can tell me what code im looking for in the ACP on CSS files. its driving me really mad i have looked over it and can not find it anyplace lol

any help would be a plus

Thank you

You have post profile toggle from Dion Designs installed on your forum Razz
The post profile will be wherever you have it set using Dion's script lol.

The script allows users to make their own decision of what side they want it on. If you want it definitively on the left, then remove the script.

I think the script uses cookies to remember user preference for profile display. Make sure you have enabled cookies or the functions for cookies are coded correctly.

You should remove the script an delete the cookie.
The script is setting a style attribute on all the post profiles, which will override anything you set in the CSS. So you need I remove the script, remove the cookie, and remove any codes from the CSS (post profile related).

Well it doesn't seem to be installed on your test forum.
But it is installed here: http://chat-xcite.iftopic.com/

So i'm confused, which site is having the issue? or both?

Both sites have the same problem.. we can not change the profile settings by the ACP so we put in place the toggle button and this worked.
but we then found that each time we moved from one page to the other or made a post it just went back to the right hand side.
this is the bit that is really getting to me no matter what i do on both sites it don't work i put the toggle button on only to Fix the problem with not getting the ACP to move the post profile's.

if you can fix the problem on my test site i can then take the codes you have fixed and out them on my other site aswell.

I thought you just installed the toggle for this issue? Razz lol.

Okay, so you want it on LEFT by default, but you also want the toggle thing to work?
I'll take a look.

Haha thanks. Well we're from the same country so... maybe one day Razz

The problem was it wasn't setting the cookie to remember. Strange how it wasn't included in the script there, but i've added in some cookie bits so it will remember now and set it accordingly.
