In progress Setting up a Group to access a Forum

Post by DaveG on March 18th 2012, 1:29 am

Hi
I have a Forum in a category that I would like to hide from the general forum membership, I want to restrict access to only a few of the Members, I've set up a Group which shows up in the User Groups / Group Administration
But when I go to General / Categories & Forums / and click on the selected Forum in the list / Permissions
The drop down box for view the forum and it's messages only contains All , Members, Administrators as the options, my Group is not there, Can someone please tell me where I've gone wrong. Thanks Dave

Press the permissions button for the forum you want to edit. Make sure you are in the advanced mode.

Hi Sig
Yep i've done that in advanced mode, At the bottom half of the page it shows user permisions and the group I created (Renegades) is in there,
but when I go up to the top to the drop down boxes to set who can view the Forum it only contains Administrators, Moderators and All
The Renegades group is not there. Dave

To set group permissions, you do it at the bottom not at the top. You check the boxes for that group at the bottom.

After setting up the permissions at the bottom and save them, check again the drop down menu.

I must have gone wrong somewhere, at the bottom of the page I have ticked all permisions for the Renage group and selected SAVE but still at the top where it's says who can view the forum (Drop Down Box) it only lists Administrators, Moderators & All Renegades does not appear.

Don't know how to do scrren shot or I would, sorry Dave

Could you post a screenshot of the page with the drop-down menu open?
