HTML page access

Post by HackAR on March 21st 2012, 2:35 pm

Hi!

1.
Is there any way to restrict access to a HTML page?
I'd like to write a page that is not publicly accessible. Is there any way to do it?

2.
Is it possible to access user's name, group or other data on the HTML page?

Thanks.

Hello, ignoring what Coddy has said, please read.

There is a way to restrict HTML page access, but it isn't secure.

Just go on Google, search for HTML password restriction or something similar to that.

Put the code in the head tags of the page, so the code loads up before anything else does - and then all you have to do is supply the password.

It is also recommended to add a right click restriction, just to add a little more security so the noobs don't inspect element on the webpage.

Once again, it's not 100% secure, but it sure is secure enough if you are trying to keep the noobs out.

Hi Zerotheheroe!

With all respect I say that, that's horrible variant. He asked for permissions, not for password. And, be sure, he can disallow the right click, that doesn't help. I can view the source and copy the password in less than a second.

About the what you said about "noobs". Nope, you aren't right again. That script only angry the visitor/user. He will leave forum. The navigation of a forum should be simple and confortable.

So, please don't ignore me. Very Happy

Yes, I'm not doing a noob protection.

But the chat requires you to log in to get certain information from server, doesn't it? Can't I use same technique to achieve what I need?

Hi!

Nope, because you can't use variables, or some PHP codes in a HTML page. Wink

Yes, there is a way. If you're making a HTML page in forumotion, use the following code:

Code:
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="1;url="http://www.google.com">
</head>

<body>

<!-- You can start your work from below or just paste this code and make your HTML codes in notepad and later replace it by this whole code -->

</body>
</html>

That will not do any good,

You can pass protect pages with a pass protect script,
But anyone with a little knowledge on coding would be able to get on to the page.
So as of now there really is no way to completely secure a html pages accesses.

what you want to be able to set chat permissions?
read over here then you can set the permissions in the widget.. be sure to check out all the updates there as well.

Also keep in mind there are many free chats you can get that you can pass protect as well.
