Solved Gradient Background behind Staff posts

Post by Neymar1 on March 22nd 2012, 10:26 pm

How can I get the gradient coloured background behind posts by admins, mods etc.

I would be looking for a red gradient background for admins on my forum.

Can anyone help?

Thanks again for the reply. How would I do that though? And when it says replace the rank title with:

RANK TITLE HERE

What do I write?

I am using phpBB3. Also where can I get the images? Or is that up to me?

I just don't really understand.

You can make a image yourself or make a graphic request for someone to make a gradient image.

To be honest I wasn't worrying about the image really, I'll be able to do that somehow.

Being able to add it is the important thing.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it. Smile

I won't mark this as solved yet though, because I want to test it out first.

I don't mean to barge in the topic but is there anyway you can break it down a little bit better than the tutorial you posted? Because I don't see how the Java Script code and changing the name of the Rank go hand and hand. I followed the PunBB steps for my forum found Here and nothing happens.
Thank You!

Yeah, but how does replacing the rank title change anything?

But say I want it only for admins. How does it know only to do it for the rank 'Admin'?

Rideem3 wrote:You change the span class to something else. Perhaps "adminpost". Now ever post containing the span class adminpost will be changed. Then add the rank to only administrators. Then change $('.specialpost') to $('.adminpost') and for moderators, do the same.

So what does the specialpost mean then? Is that everything that has a rank?

So, what's the point in adding the part in the tutorial that says change the rank title to:

RANK TITLE HERE?

How does it differentiate between the ranks?

EDIT: I also tried it and it didn't do anything.

Rideem3 wrote:When I say change the rank to what is in the tutorial, I also said afterward to replace rank title here with you're rank. So say right now you have rank title called Administrator. Replace the rank title with:
Code:
<span class="specialpost">Administrator</span>

The script then finds all of the posts containing this rank and changes their color Smile

haha well that explains it. That's the first time I've seen the span code.

Here is what it looks like on FMquery:
