Solved Gradient post background for staff in forum coding help!

Post by shadowolfozo on March 23rd 2012, 2:09 pm

Alright, so like many others I've stumbled upon the colourful post code staff of FM have now got and of course, would like to impliment this into my own forum.

After trying ever so hard to work it out through the answers of others' questions I was lead here:
http://www.malware-site.www/forum/index.php/topic/135-how-to-change-the-post-background-color-of-a-specific-user/

since the other tutorial that people were linked to, was deleted.

Now I've done everything the tutorial says, I've even made a new and changed my rank to a test one titled 'ABC' for now and pasted the code in a new javascript and etc...

but now I'm stumped. It didn't do anything, even though on the tutorial it says 'Hit save and you're done'.
How do I link the rank to the code? Because when I looked over it and even got my dad (a website coder/designer) to look over it and he couldn't even make head-to-tail of it since he doesn't work with php.

I'm using phpBB3 and so far have this code (colour is not permanent, I'm literally just trying to make it work!);

Code:
$(function() {
$('div.post:has(".specialpost")').css('background-color','#99ff00');
});

How on earth do I link the rank to the code? What do I change/add?

EDIT: I discovered this was asked on here;
http://help.forumotion.com/t106195-how-do-i-make-the-post-background-coloured-like-this?highlight=catergory+background
but left unanswered. an answer would be nice Smile

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

The problem is that you need to go to your rank administration and replace the rank with this:

Code:
<span class="specialpost">Administrator</span>

And you have to do it like that for every rank. And than you have to add the script.

If you want it to be an image the end of the script will have to finish like this:

Code:
.css('background-image' , 'url(http://www.nextgenupdate.com/forums/images/Admin-bg.jpg)');

Ofcourse with your image in there. The tutorial is not full either parts of it with the rank title are not visable to guests.
