Nivo Slider and Accordion as headers

Post by Glazella on March 29th 2012, 5:08 am

Can the Nivo slider or accordion index can be made into a header and not just a homepage stuff? Is it possible without enabling the portal? Because that would look good for announcements like news, photos, etc. and can easily seen by the forum users unlike the sliding announcements. Also if it is a homepage stuff, it is located under the navigation bar and over the forums which I think doesn't serve well. And as well, can the photos on those slides be linked to various page of the forum?

I want the header to look like this:

It's a banner where in there is also a table on the right where the updates are link. Check that forum here: http://www.tiaradiadem.com/forums/

Thanks~ Hello

Yes it's possible, you'll just have some modifications in overall_header, delete the logo then replace an nivo slider and multiple tab code (like the one in the image).

Well i dont know how you would get the news to automatically update be added? I am not sure if thats what it is doing there or not.

But as far as creating something like that it would have to all be done in tables/frames and your content added.

I dont understand what that would have to do with the Nivo Slider and Accordion. So you would need to explain exactly how you want to incorporate it and whether you are placing new news content in manually?

Then you will need your images for the nav bar, and perhaps css for color hover or even mouse over image codes would work to.. But i mean there is probably like ten or more different ways you can create soothing like this.

So you would have to be as detailed and explain as much as possibility so we can try to help with most efficient and easiest way to do it.

Hello, thank you for replying to me Smile

E-Mark - hello!~ which one to use? Smile

Kirk - When I asked the admin of that forum, he told me that the Nivo Slider can be put there and when I ask Nera if I can make Nivo Slider can be a header, she said I can. Also E-Mark there at the right. However, the news is part of their forum software which I guess can't be done here. So now, what I really want to do is:

1. Have a header which features my forum logo (using nivo)
2. Along or on the side of that header is a table where announcements, news, photos, etc. can be placed (doesn't matter if I'll update it automatically).

Something like this:

Except that the photo should be on the right side and the captions on the left Smile And the captions there will serve as links.

whats the point of using Nivo Slider? what do you want to slide out?

Going by your screen shot, all you want is a image with the logo and some links on the side of it, So you would not need the Nivo Slider to do that.

and your saying you want the image on the opposite side? because it is on the right side now... lol

I would need to know why it has to be Nivo Slider and how that would be coming into play Smile

I dint really read that tutorial yet either, But seems that if your using Nivo Slider you should be using more of the options of what the whole thing is set up for, Just a image of your logo with links on the side can be easily done in tables and would be no need to use Nivo Slider..

Other then that i will test the slider and see what it's all about, from what i seen so far looks pretty cool, thumright

And your using invision , so yeah i will have to test things.

kk Thanks really for assisting me ^^ It's because I'm considering the suggestion of the guy from the Diadem forum :p So I guess what I really have to use that can be the easiest would be Nivo slider or accordion. But you said it can be done with frames and tables right? How would that be? Smile Because what I really want is that there is a table (w/c is semi-transparent) that could go with my banner. That table will serve as a place where links on the latest news, photos, etc can be found. See below:
