how to put a message on forum for people to see before they register?

hello

iam new here and iam not sure if i should write this on this section??!!
never mind here i goes !! i just need help !!!!!

my problem is the following !

i want guests to see a message as soon as they find my forum
i want them to see it and read before they register
is like a warning message kind of thing !
a message letting them know what they about to join and see inside forum!

how do i do this ?

i hope you understand what iam going on about !

You can add it to the homepage message , the pop-up log in, or an announcement.

certainly waS GIVEN THE WRONG INFORMATION !!!

IF I ADD IT TO THE HOME PAGE MESSAGE IT WILL NOT SHOW TO GUESTS BEFORE THEY BECOME MENBERS!!! FACT !!!OR IF I DO IT AS AN ANNOUCEMENT!!!

That is because you have your forum set for Registered Member only to view the forum index. To change that so visitors can see your forum go to your Admin Panel and click "General" then "Catogories and forums" then look to the right and you'll see "Forum Permission Control", click that. Then choose one of your forums by clicking the title of it on the left, Then select from the drop menu that is "View the forum and its messages" and select "All" and save your settings.

You have to have at least one forum open for guests to read in order for your Homepage Message to be seen by guests.

cheers for the information! but i dont really want a home page message because that means that even the menbers will be able to see it ?

i want a message for people to see it just before they thinking of becoming a menber and i dont wanna to stay on the forum after that ! i want it not to be seen after they log in !

is this possible ? cheers!

OK then you want to control a page for guests that really is separate from the forum from where people write. A different page altogether. Ok, what you want is called a "Portal" page. Those are mostly for guests just like what you are wanting. Go to admin panel and choose "Modules" then on the left choose "Portal Management" then you will see a screen on the right about portals. Click to install the portal. That will then be your new page for guests or even members to view. Do that and play around with it some. If you have more questions ask about portals and I'm sure someone will reply to help you out. I don't have a portal page on my forum so I'm not the best one to answer questions about that. But a portal is what you are looking for. Smile

YEAH !! i think it will have to be writen on the portal ! BUT i already have something writen there !!! and i cant manage to change it for what i really want !!! i need write something diferent on it !

any body knows how to delete whats writen on the portal and rewrite something diferent ? i forgot how to do it !!
