If you want a perfect Forumotion site you need 4 things:
1. Domain name
2. Amazing theme
3. Lots of active members & posts
4. Able staff
This is my opinion

Hmm... I think that you need to be:
=> Determined
=> A risk-taker
=> Patient
=> Friendly
I don't think I quite have 'IT' to run a perfect forum.
It takes quite a lot of effort and if you've got the patience and determination then you'll go far. If you're willing to take risks, and you're lucky, you might go very far.

I think you need-
.: Loyal, active members
.: Good staff
.: A well-worked-on and updated site
I personally think that a site can be successful without a domain name

I think for one to have a successful forum you will need...
1. Sociable, friendly, and capable staff.
2. Lots and lots of active members
3. Interesting forum topics
4. And a user-friendly site (it will also help if its face is appealing)
