Pro Admin AOL issue - Forum Slow and Sometimes doesn't load

Post by weaver on April 23rd 2012, 11:38 pm

First topic message reminder :

Hi. I'm having the same problem as another forum member with my forum. I have several members, including myself, that are having problems loading the forum. This only started within the last week. Sometimes the forum takes a minute or so to load, other times I get an error message saying the page couldn't be loaded. I've not changed anything within the forum for some time and the problem seems intermittent. All other websites load up normally, so its not connection speed. I see that a suggestion was made on the other thread to try resynchronising the forum. Before I try that, what does it do as I can't find any info on that function.

Oh, and it also seems to be happening when I load the administration page or access this forum of forums.

Cheers

Hello,

Same thing. I can access very easily to your forum, without any load problem. With Chrome too.

Our technicians have checked the server and nothing wrong appears, so I don't know where the error is but certainly not on our side. It's difficult to find a solution for you, as we're not facing the problem. If someone can take a screenshot of the error page you get when the page doesn't load at all, it can be useful Wink

Leeloo could it be something to do with the new Anti Spyware/spammer system installed do you think.

I have had one member effected by that where he couldn't log on due to a conflict with it. That has already been rectified now though

Well today seems to be a good day. Not having any issues, so fingers crossed that whatever was causing the problem has resolved itself. One of my techi members suggested it may be dns issues with our isp's if they don't update regularly. Had this problem once or twice with tiscali/talktalk.

No, there's no link between the antispam system and uploading problems.

But I've one questions : what's your ISPs ?
I'm looking for a commonality between you and other users who are familiar with this problem, since we have seen that this is not a browser issue...

If the other users of this topic are using AOL also, I suggest to contact an operator of this ISP to try to know much about this loading issue.

In the meantime, I'll check with the technicians if there is something we can do on our side.

Thanks Smile

OK, so I've contacted talktalk. They say there are no issues on there end. The only suggestion they make is that there could be congestion on the servers or some other issue with the forumotion servers. Doesn't really explain why it only affects aol and talktalk isp's though. I've asked my members to log problems on my forum to see if a pattern emerges. Does seem to be a problem that is affecting several forums on here though so does need sorting out.

Hi all just one thing for you ..Talk talk & AOL use the same servers and all go by phone lines Witch is a slow way to get your internet. but that's not the problem here.

Ask your ISP to run a test on this site and any other sites you have this problem with, I spoke to a friend of mine that runs he's internet on AOL and he also has the same problem finding this site but found it slow to log on to my site. I really can not see this problem being FM's side And only with AOL and Talk talk maybe FM could call up AOL and talk talk and see if they could come up with why this site has now become slow or not even working.. They may ask for the ip address of the ones with this problem but the tech's should get that info if needed.

Anyway Good luck guys

Here's something that may shed light on the problem. I did a tracert on one of the dns's of forumotion. Here's the result. Seems thr tarce is timing out at the networklayer.com servers. Any clues or perhaps forumotion could do a little more digging to find out why this is happening. I like the idea of the tech guys contacting aol/talktalk direct and this info may help point them in the direction of the problem. Perhaps I could have a few more dns's to have a go with. Perhaps Leeloo can help here?

Hello,

That's not what we needed.

You need to change your DNS (to know much about it, please click here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/change-tcp-ip-settings ) and replace it by the Google DNS for example (probably the more reliable so that we can determinate if this is a DNS error from AOL or if the problem is somewhere else.

Thank you Wink

I'm having trouble this morning.

http://renaultwind.motionforum.net/forum.htm

My ISP is PlusNet (UK), my browser Safari.

The error message I get is: Safari can't open the page "http://renaultwind.motionforum.net/forum.htm" because the server where this page is located isn't responding.

I've changed my DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and am still not getting anything more than a blank page.
