Solved Users Off-Line

Post by runawayhorses on April 28th 2012, 8:37 pm

Is there a place or a code to show a button that a user is Off-line? I know in pic management you can choose a "Online" image and add the URL, but is there a way to have a "Offline" image to show when the Online isn't?

I wrote a script for it here: http://www.avacweb.com/t44-10-offline-icon

Its not the best way of doing this, but its the easiest.

It can be achieved by doing this though.
Code:

.post {
  background-image: url(URL OF YOUR OFFLINE IMAGE);
}
.post.online {
 background-image: url(URL OF YOUR ONLINE IMAGE)!important;
}

This would set an offline image to every post, but when a user is online the post has the classname of 'online' and so the offline image gets replaced with online image.

Thank you that worked fine.

You said its not the best way to do it, are you referring to the Javascript way in the URL you posted? The code you posted here is CSS and that should have no problems with page loads from my understanding. I used the CSS code you posted here and it works fine with no slowing down of page loads. I put it in my CSS stylesheet.

Yeah the JavaScript way is not the best.

If you went with the CSS method then you dd the right thing.
Glad to hear it works.
