Solved Fully customising the portal in my own way.

Post by Otacon_Alonsus on May 2nd 2012, 12:42 pm

I am working on the portal on this link
http://sftesting.forumotion.co.uk/
and i want to achive the following design "only" in the portal alone

I achieved whats currently on that portal page by adding a custom widget which has the following code

Code:

<div id="main_content">
</div>

CSS had the following

Code:

#main_content
{
  width: 100%;
  height: 960px;
}

What am I doing wrong to not achieve the transparency that I want, as show in the image.

Hi!

Try adding this code in Javascript codes management:
Code:
$(function(){
$('body').addClass('portalonly');
});
Placement : Set only Portal.

Then you can work with CSS:
Code:
.portalonly here your selectors{
here your codes;
}
So, just add .portalonly before what you want to customize only on your portal. Smile

thanks for the response Coddy. I have gone and done as you said but there's still no change. I added the javascript and set only in Portal.

then the following code

Code:
<div id="main_content">
</div>

I have it in a custom widget in portal

then is css I added

Code:

.portalonly #main_content
{
  width: 100%;
  height: 960px;
}

even tried adding my selector in announcements but no luck.

Hi!

The Javasctipt code should be activated only in Portal. I see on your forum on all the pages that selector - .portalonly. So, are you sure you checked only In the portal for the Placement field? If not, check only for it.

Then add to CSS Stylesheet:
Code:
.portalonly #main_content
{
  width: 100%;
  height: 960px;
  background-color: transparent !important;
  background-image: none !important;
}

Or, an another solution is just to add in Announcement (that should be setted to show only In portal) this:
Code:
<style>
#main_content
{
  width: 100%;
  height: 960px;
  background-color: transparent !important;
  background-image: none !important;
}
</style>

So, one of this should work, I think. Smile

I suppose setting this in custom portal widget is what I am doing wrong?

<div id="main_content">
</div>

Have you tried to add in Administration Panel => General => Messages and e-mails => Announcements this code:
Code:
<style>
#main_content
{
  width: 100%;
  height: 960px;
  background-color: transparent !important;
  background-image: none !important;
}
</style>
Do not forget to check Portal on Announcements display field.

So, you want to make that div (#main_content) to have a transparet background, but only on portal?

If that div's id are only in portal, just add to CSS Stylesheet:
Code:
#main_content
{
  width: 100%;
  height: 960px;
  background-color: transparent !important;
  background-image: none !important;
}

I have tried all your solutions.. no luck still Smile
Seems the custom widget is contained in a table that's also housing the content in other pages ( that's where the white background is coming from I assume), even though I have excluded it from standard table of the portal.

I finally got it sorted with help from LGForum, thanks for responding and helping me out too Coddy. For those who happen to run into a similar issue like mine here's the solution. Juss put the following code in the widget that you only want to appear in portal

Code:

<style>
#wrap {
background: none;
}
</style>

Cheers guys.
