That looks like a background image not a color. Go to AP>>Display>>pic management>>Advanced>> and see if you can find the background image. If its not an image background its some kind of semi-transparent overlay image on top of the color. But my guess is that entire thing is one background image.

Solved Re: changing background colour

Post by MidKnightBlue May 13th 2012, 11:24 pm

What we're trying to do is replace the brown that you see (at the arrows) with solid black. I have created the blue stones in the background and the image that you see. Our forum is in shades of blue and black but I would rather not have the mottled brown in the center. Is there anyway I can change that to solid black? I'm familiar with the areas that have been mentioned but so far none of those have worked.

Since I can't see what pic it is, (because I almost use no pics, its all in my css) and I'm pretty new to Forumotion I can't really help you.
All I can say is that it could be in your css or either pics management.

Solved Changing background colour

Post by MidKnightBlue May 14th 2012, 3:25 pm

This is the area that I'm trying to change to solid black..I'm not even sure if it can be done. I'm just learning about CSS so if I need to change it there, I will need specific instructions. Thank you all for all your comments.

It must be in your skin itself, so I recommend looking at it's css or templates (if possible).

Yes it is in the css for sure I see now, it could be in:
.pun .main-content
or
.pun table.table (try changing background to this link)
or
.for_topics

And some more, depends on your skin css.

Solved Re: changing background colour

Post by kirk May 15th 2012, 4:42 am

Well it looks like he fixed it.
Seems to be a solid dark blue color now.
I do not see any forums on the page so hard to tell what it would be.
css can be different for the different forum versions, but i am sure it either went with body, table rows or something with block content.

The easier way to find whee it would be is to just skim through the css and check the image links. Smile Whatever the case looks like it is solved now, Very good Think this was one of them?

Think his may have been the original part?. there could have been more as well?
Code:
.post {
    background-image: url("http://i30.servimg.com/u/f30/13/30/32/72/t_fond10.jpg");
    background-position: right center;
    border: 1px solid #000000;
}
.postprofile-details {
    text-align: center;
}
.post .post-header {
    background-image: url("http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/11/95/30/70/35px10.png");
}
.post .post-footer {
    background-image: url("http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/11/95/30/70/t310.jpg");
}
.postbody {

    background-position: left center;

No, Willie didn't fix it, it's still the same and I haven't had a chance to get in there, yet. I had a feeling it was going to be complicated, lol.

Thank you so much, Kirk, I'll check this out as soon as possible. Smile

Mid

can you add the link to your forums index page/ fix permissions for guest to see.
Because the log in page all i see is dark blue solid color.
But it looks like the images are still in your widgets, so i guess they are still on the forums too?

Solved Re: changing background colour

Post by kirk May 15th 2012, 5:23 pm

looks like it is going to be here too.

Code:
.row1, .row2 {
    background-image: url("http://i30.servimg.com/u/f30/13/30/32/72/fond_c10.jpg");
    border: 1px solid #000000;

so try in those areas, I would just remove the image link, and save the images too in case you have to put them back, Or just copy the whole css and save to a text file in case you need it again latter, you can always export you theme and save as well.

so let us know how you make out and if it removes it everywhere you need it.

Info added
Actually if you added a slight blue tint to the images in photoshop then re-up and add back it will probably go with it well, If you know how to do that or have photoshop or other image software to do it with.

may be something like this?
changing background colour Fond_c10

direct link
https://i.servimg.com/u/f45/14/35/03/17/fond_c10.jpg

Like i said though i would just remove the image links and leave the rest of the css,
This way you can always go back and add any other images you may find that would look good there?

Thank you so much, Kirk. Excellent suggestion..and yes, I know how to do that, I've done all the graphics on the site but I didn't know I could change the dreadful brown area, lol, I've changed everything else. Your blue tint now looks very similar to other images that I've been using..thanks!!

It's going to take me a little while to follow your instructions, though, I'm just now getting into the nitty gritty of the CSS. I was always afraid to mess with it. Thanks again!
