Making the background fit all screens?

Post by Jellydonut on Fri Jun 01 2012, 19:30

Hi. On my site, a phpBB2, I made my own custom background.

I've been using it for like, 6 months. I didn't realize till a few days ago that it didn't fit all screen sizes, I made it to fit mine. Nobody mentioned it, so it must not be that off for other people, but when I was using my site on my cousins Mac, the background was WAY off. Then when I asked people on my site how it looked, most of them said it wasn't perfectly fitting. Is there a way I can make this background fit all screen sizes?

In my laptop my forum appears to be wide but when I use my desktop the width and height really changed.

I guess its a matter of how high the resolution of ones laptop/desktop/etc.

In my opinion only those repetitive image can fit the whole forum background.

Oh, ok. So there's no way to make that background work for everyone?

Add this in your css to body background-position: center center;

Thanks! I have no idea if it worked, since the background looks fine on my screen. I just added it into my CSS, not sure how to add it to body. Can some people tell me if the background looks right?

People on my site are still saying its off.
I really want to use this background, since I made it myself and I worked hard on it, so like I said, is there any way to make it fit all screens?

Your forum is off center. I don't see a background problem I see a forum centering problem. Your on phpbb2 so that would mean its a template issue.

Oh, okay, thanks. I thought it was the background though, since I made it myself.
How can I fix my off-center forum?

I would change to phpbb3 and be done with it. However if you want to get into your template you'll have to wait for someone to look your coding over. They might need you to post your template coding or get access to your forum and have a look. But you could probably solve this issue in 20 minutes with changing forum versions to phpbb3.

I've worked to hard on my coding, graphics, and layout on my site. I don't want it all to be erased by switching to phpBB3
