Hi, yes there is. Go to: AP>>General>>Messages & emails>>Private messages>>

On that page scroll to the bottom and you'll see "Allow welcome private message", tick the "Enabled" and save. You'll of course want to write a message in the text box under that your message that will be sent, in the "Welcome private message" field. Its all on that page..
