Solved Banner Ads in announcement field

Post by bhowe on July 4th 2012, 8:22 pm

I am currently running GIF banner ads in the announcement field as multiple announcements (like a slide-show). The problem is with every click the slide-show starts all over again so those at the bottom of the show don't get much airtime. Is there anyway to change this so the ad (announcement) changes at every click?

You can check out my site at www.insidelakeside.com to see what i am referring to. Any assistance would be appreciated.

You can make it so it doesnt scroll through, but it will show a different one each time you refresh the forum.

Check this script out, and try it. Wink

Code:
    <script type="text/javascript">

    //Javascript Created by Computerhope http://www.computerhope.com

    //store the quotations in arrays

    var images = [],
    index = 0;

    images[0] = "<a href = 'LINK'><img src='IMAGE'></a>";

    images[1] = "<a href = 'LINK'><img src='IMAGE'></a>";

    images[2] = "<a href = 'LINK'><img src='IMAGE'></a>";

    images[3] = "<a href = 'LINK'><img src='IMAGE'></a>";

    index = Math.floor(Math.random() * images.length);

    document.write(images[index]);

    //done

    </script>

Replace: LINK with website link
and: IMAGE with image link

It didn't seem to work porperly. I only see one of the 728 x 90 banners in the top left hand corner and the rest of the screen is white. I can't even see the forum. I put this code in:

<script type="text/javascript">

//Javascript Created by Computerhope http://www.computerhope.com

//store the quotations in arrays

var images = [],
index = 0;

images[0] = "<a href = 'http://www.insidelakeside.com/'><img src='http://i49.servimg.com/u/f49/14/89/14/31/monday11.jpg'></a>";

images[1] = "<a href = 'http://www.hotelperico.com.mx/en/'><img src='http://i49.servimg.com/u/f49/14/89/14/31/hotelp10.gif'></a>";

images[2] = "<a href = 'http://www.spectrasports.com/'><img src='http://i49.servimg.com/u/f49/14/89/14/31/spectr10.gif'></a>";

images[3] = "<a href = 'http://chapalalaw.com/'><img src='http://i49.servimg.com/u/f49/14/89/14/31/chapal11.gif'></a>";

index = Math.floor(Math.random() * images.length);

document.write(images[index]);

//done

</script>

OK, I figured out you have to turn off the scrolling in the announcement field. It works now.
