Open report pop-up for new reports

Post by myforum on July 7th 2012, 8:27 pm

Hi,

So for some members I see in the preferences this option:

"Open report pop-up for new reports"

And for others no.

What makes it show? or not show?

Also Not all the moderators pop in the list under "special users" why?

The pop up for this setting can only be seen as a member of your staff and not any other member with out the mods rights.

not sure i get what you mean by this part of your problem

Also Not all the moderators pop in the list under "special users" why?

Yea I have 1 group which was the original Moderator group.
I named it super moderators. with power in all sections.

Then I created another group and called it Moderators and gave power in specific sections.

So why some of the moderators in either group have the ability to turn the feature on? and some don't?

Not all the members I have listed in those 2 groups get listed in the "special users" list even after I added them to 1 of the 2 groups mentioned. and gave them the rank.

So I just checked again.

Basically I have a 2 usernames that I add to moderator group and it shows them both listed in the group but it is still not giving those users moderator power?

What could be the reason?

correction. the user gets moderator powers but he has no access to the
"report" list.

and he doesn't get the notification of a post report.
he doesn't have: "Open report pop-up for new reports" option in his profile setting.

and he doesn't get listed in the special users list?

ok now i see what you mean

Right let me tell you how this works your staff names come up there and this has nothing to do with the report list at all the staff will get a pop up on the main forum when a member or staff member reports a post in the forum

When the problem has been dealt with this will not pop up again unless the post is reported again.
Or you can always make a custom navbar button and link it so the staff can click on that to see reports but this will not show up in this part of the ACP .. All staff will see the popup not just the ones you want..If you see what i mean.

Hope this helps with this problem as for the siggs well now i am lost haha you have not said what the problem is

as of the staff member not having mods power well are you sure he / she is looking in the right place for the mods settings?

i can help more if you can make an Admin Account up for me and pm me with your info to that account

NOTE if you Don't trust me then that is fine i can not make you give me ACP use if you Don't want to.

So if the user RVDS is a moderator why he doesn't have the ability to turn on the pop up feature for the "report" ?

^ thats is 1 issue.

Second issue:

I know it is not exactly correlated but I want to know why for example moderator edge1212 gets listed in the "special users" list while RVDS is not listed?

Best thing to do is get one thing fixed at a time so we don't get mixed up or you get told off for double/triple posting Wink

Yes true Smile

so lets take care of the first issue and concentrate on that first:

Looking at the above screen shot. If the user RVDS is a moderator why he doesn't he have the ability to turn on the pop up feature for the "report" in his profile preferences?

Yes because all the other users listed in the same group do have everything working right. Just that 1 user name is not working right.

I just checked again. for the specific forum and all other forums in every section the "moderate" box is checked for the group: "super moderators"

I have logged in using his username after his approval.
It doesn't have the option: Open report pop-up for new reports : Yes
But when I scroll through the forums in the sections using the RVDS moderator profile I can still edit, move delete and all that stuff just like a moderator.

What about his posts and record? I assume that will put him back to 0?

Also in that same section:

1.Synchronize a user : .

2. Reset the most online user record : Check to reset.

3. Resynchronize your forum : Check to resynchronize.

I don't touch 2 & 3 right?

His name is in he moderators of the forum list.
Just checked.

I even made him the moderator of the actual group "super moderator"
that didn't help either.

I just tried making someone else a member in the "super moderator" group same thing for his user name just like RVDS.

Sorry for the double post again but I just saw your response.

I rather not let someone become admin and access my forums freaks me out a lil after all the hard work I put in to this... I am sure you are all amazing people but just not something I feel comfortable with. idk I need to think about it.

I was hoping maybe someone was just familiar with the issue. I guess I will just keep playing with it.

WOW that actually worked.

So if anyone has this problem.
Go to the search user, select the user. go to the permissions tab.
un-select all the sections. press save. then select all the sections again and press save.

boom. works Smile

and btw now all members from all groups moderator and super moderator are listed in my "sepcial users" tab

Thank you very much helper.

and may I ask last basic question?
Does a normal user or any user after they sign up to the forum in order to be able to see when other posted new stuff everytime they log back in do they need to actually press "start wacthing forum" ? per each section? or just under 1 section and that will cover the rest? or they don't need to it is somewhere else in the auto settings?

Re: Open report pop-up for new reports

To watch a post they need to go to each thread made and click on the watch this post but in the profile settings there is a button that can be pressed to watch all of them but they will need to post on that thread after they change the settings and then all the time some one posts it will come up in there profile setting under Topis being watched.

Hope this has helped you with the rest of your Q's

so basically there is no 1 button you can press to get a complete update of every section everytime you log back in with the markings of which section has a new post?

btw I am not talking about the feature sending you email after you posted in a thread...
