Solved How to add a Topic Sidebar

Post by Foundwaldo on July 8th 2012, 12:17 am

I have a question of course.

How do you add like a Menu bar or Sidebar to your Forum.

Like they have: http://new-dark-light.forumotion.com/forum

Where it has announcements and such.

The Recent Topics?

Its a widget

ACP --> Modules --> Widget Management --> Activate Widgets --> Then scroll down --> Find Recent Topics --> Drag it to either the left or the right side of the middle box --> Click Save

Solved Re: How to add a Topic Sidebar

Post by Kaizer Lee on July 11th 2012, 3:33 pm

Here are the steps:

First, put this in Javascript:

Code:
function showonlyonev2(thechosenone) {      var newboxes = document.getElementsByTagName("div");      for(var x=0; x<newboxes.length; x++) {            name = newboxes[x].getAttribute("class");            if (name == 'newboxes-2') {                  if (newboxes[x].id == thechosenone) {                        if (newboxes[x].style.display == 'block') {                              newboxes[x].style.display = 'none';                        }                        else {                              newboxes[x].style.display = 'block';                        }                  }else {                        newboxes[x].style.display = 'none';                  }            }      } }

Then this one in CSS:

Code:
#floating_sidebar {  position:fixed; right: 0;  top: 100px; /* If you change this then you adjust height from the top of the page */ } #headerDiv, #contentDiv { float: left; width: 510px; } #titleText { float: left; font-size: 1.1em; font-weight: bold; margin: 5px; } #myHeader { font-size: 1.1em; font-weight: bold; margin: 5px; } #headerDiv { background-color: #0037DB; color: #9EB6FF; } #contentDiv { background-color: #FFE694; } #myContent { margin: 5px 10px; } #headerDiv a { float: right; margin: 10px 10px 5px 5px; } #headerDiv a:hover { color: #FFFFFF; }

And then create another Javascript:

Code:
<script type="text/javascript">  function toggle() { //Checking if select field is enabled if (document.getElementById("mySelect").disabled == false) { //Changing the select field state to disabled and changing the value of button to enable document.getElementById("mySelect").disabled = true document.getElementById("btn").value="Enable list" return } //Checking if select field is disabled if (document.getElementById("mySelect").disabled == true) { //Changing the select field state to enabled and changing the value of button to disable document.getElementById("mySelect").disabled = false document.getElementById("btn").value="Disable list" return } } </script>

And finally, MAKE sure you customize this code for your academy or whatever. This one's to be put in Display > Headers > Generalities.

Code:
<!-- start sidebar --><div id="floating_sidebar">
 <table>
  <tr>
      <td>
        <div style="border: 2px solid black; background-color: #1A1A1A; padding: 5px;">
            <a id="myHeader1-2" href="javascript:showonlyonev2('newboxes1-2');" ><center>MCA</center></a>
        </div>
        <div class="newboxes-2" id="newboxes1-2" style="border: 2px solid gray; background-color: #1A1A1A; display: block;padding: 5px;">

<font size=1>

<center>

<br></br>
</font>
</center>
</div>
      </td>
      <td>
        </div>
      </td>
  </tr>
</table>
