Changing headers

Post by Julija on July 11th 2012, 3:38 pm

Hey, is there any code or script or anything, that can make change forum's header after refreshing the page? This is very popular in invisionfree boards, but I've seen such thing in forumotion board once (sadly I can't remember the address now :/). Here is one of the examples in invisionfree: http://z10.invisionfree.com/Shadowplay/index.php? you refresh the page and BAM, there is new header.

Is this actually possible to do with forumotion boards and, if yes, how?

Lucky me, I'm using PHPBB2. How is this possible? Is there some kind of a code or maybe it has something to do with the templates? ^^

Re: Changing headers

Hey sorry for the late reply. Here's how to do it.

First, make sure your logo is aligned to the center in your admin panel, this can be done in Display -> headers and navigation.

You need the images to be the size of the header you're using. Then you can do this in Templates:

Find this in Overall_header:
Code:
<!-- BEGIN switch_logo_center -->
                     <a href="{U_INDEX}"><img src="{LOGO}" id="i_logo" border="0" alt="{L_INDEX}" vspace="1" /></a>
                     <br />
                     <!-- END switch_logo_center -->

Replace with:

Code:
<!-- BEGIN switch_logo_center -->
                     <a href="{U_INDEX}">

<script type="text/javascript">

//Javascript Created by Computerhope http://www.computerhope.com

//store the quotations in arrays

var images = [],
index = 0;

images[0] = "<img src='IMAGELINK'>";

images[1] = "<img src='IMAGELINK'>";

images[2] = "<img src='IMAGELINK'>";

images[3] = "<img src='IMAGELINK'>";

index = Math.floor(Math.random() * images.length);

document.write(images[index]);

//done

</script></a><br />
                     <!-- END switch_logo_center -->

I haven't done alot of testing so it may or may not work. If it doesnt let me know and ill find a new solution

Second way:

Overall_header template:

find:

Code:
<tr>
         <td class="bodyline">
            <table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0">
               <tr>
                  <!-- BEGIN switch_logo_left -->
                  <td><a href="{U_INDEX}"><img src="{LOGO}" id="i_logo" border="0" alt="{L_INDEX}" vspace="1" /></a></td>
                  <!-- END switch_logo_left -->
                  <td align="center" width="100%" valign="middle">
                     <!-- BEGIN switch_logo_center -->
                     <a href="{U_INDEX}"><img src="{LOGO}" id="i_logo" border="0" alt="{L_INDEX}" vspace="1" /></a>
                     <br />
                     <!-- END switch_logo_center -->
                     <div class="maintitle">{MAIN_SITENAME}</div>
                     <br />
                     <span class="gen">{SITE_DESCRIPTION}<br />  </span>
                  </td>
                  <!-- BEGIN switch_logo_right -->
                  <td><a href="{U_INDEX}"><img src="{LOGO}" id="i_logo" border="0" alt="{L_INDEX}" vspace="1" /></a></td>
                  <!-- END switch_logo_right -->
               </tr>

replace with:

Code:
<tr>
         <td class="bodyline">
            <table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0">
               <tr>
<a href="FORUMURL">

<center><div style="width: 900px;"><script type="text/javascript">
/*

by iFusion - http://forum.ifcode.com
*/
//Define the ads' URL and Image below
var ad = []
ad[0]=["FORUMURL" , "BANNERURL"]
ad[1]=["FORUMURL" , "BANNERURL"]
ad[2]=["FORUMURL" , "BANNERURL"]
ad[3]=["FORUMURL" , "BANNERURL"]
//Do not edit anything below this line
x = Math.floor(Math.random()*ad.length)
document.write("<center>")
document.write("<a href='" + ad[x][0] + "'>")
document.write("<img src='" + ad[x][1] + "' />")
document.write("</a>")
document.write("</center>")
</script></div> </center></a>
               </tr>
