Several Problems On My Forum.

Post by FriendlyKitten on July 12th 2012, 3:25 pm

Hi.

I am new to Forumotion and only made my first forum here the other night.
Whilist making the forum went well mostly i am having a few problems which i will try and be as clear as i possibly can.

One problem is that i got one of my friends to join and when he did he was joined as a guest and showed having no posts even though he made 1 post. i wanted him as an admin so i followed every single step to the latter to make him an admin. in the admin panel it shows that he is indeed an admin and even a moderator but on the actual board he is still showing as a guest that has not posted.

His username does not show the full name either whereas mine does.

I have had trouble trying to put him into the admin group as well and still not sure i have done this right even though i followed the steps to the latter.

I've even tried to change colours for mods/admins etc but that didn't work for me either.

I'm also concerned that if other members join that they will join as guests and that i won't kow how to make them an actual member rather than a guest.

I've spent two days on this but don't feel that i have gotten anywhere.

I really do need someones' help to help me set up all this correctly. i was with another server and knew it like the back of my hand but i'm finding this a little challenging right now.
I do have sight problems so am trying to take extra care in what i am doing.

Like i say making the groups and putting the selected admin into my group i am finding hard to do and later on when members join i'm not sure what to do.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and i really hope someone could take the time to help me.

No.
I don't see anything about guests at all.
So far there is only me and my other friend that have joined the board. i have not given out the address to other friends to join until i sort everything out.

By rights in reality i should have just been able to make the board, put the forums/catagories in and away i go but hasn't happened that way.

I'm sure i must have a few settings wrong possibly but just can't figure out what.

Since, there is no one named guest in the usernames. Where do you see the guest thing?

When i go into the actual forum where this person has posted once, under his username it says that he is a guest and has zero posts.

(sorry for all this).

Is he logging in and a actavaded member?

If not the only way he would show as a guest is if he unsubscribed was, or is not loging in to the forum?

Not sure, i think you mat just be getting confused with something.

Go to his profile and change his pass so you can log in and see what it dose for you.
Once you have it worked out you can give him the temp pass you created and he can change it to what he wants when he logs back in Smile

I'll give it a go and see what happens and give you the results.
Thanking you in advance. Smile

EDIT:

Kirk...i tried what you said about changing the password and that worked!!!!!.
I also think i know where the problem lies now as somehow i have to change the setting to my forum as guests can see it as plain as day like if you are logged in and i think this is why my friend showed up as a guest as when he registered he apparently was not logged in so thank you, you have solved one major problem for me, i'm very happy!!!.

I just have 2 other problems to solve now and then i hope i'm right.

Thank you. Smile

If in trouble I'll make another thread...
