Solved Re: How do I remove the 'Author' column?

Post by ankillien on July 24th 2012, 5:14 pm

Hi,

Here is the process...

1) Go to Admin CP > Display > Templates > General > topics_list_box

2) Find this part and remove it...

Code:
<th align="center" nowrap="nowrap" width="100"> {topics_list_box.row.L_AUTHOR} </th>

3) Find this part and remove it also...

Code:
<td class="row3" align="center" valign="middle"><span class="name"><strong>{topics_list_box.row.TOPIC_AUTHOR}</strong></span></td>

4) Find this part...

Code:
{topics_list_box.row.topic.switch_description.TOPIC_DESCRIPTION}

and put this code right after it...

Code:
<br>By {topics_list_box.row.TOPIC_AUTHOR}

5) Save the template and publish it.

Hope it helps Very Happy

I did what you said but it warped the position of the columns.

Do you think it's advisable that I switch to PhpBB3? Will doing that erase your data?

May be you did something wrong while making changes! I tried this process on my test board and it worked fine. Try doing it again and see if it goes fine.

Switching ti phpBB3 is easier Smile The data won't be erased but everything related to looks and style of the forum will be changed. It won't affect the users or topics and posts at all, it will just alter the looks of the forum.

I'll try it again one more time and edit the result over here.

If all goes wrong though I will switch to PhpBB3 and risk losing my pics and all that. I'll probably just save everything in my hard-drive. In case I have to switch though, how do you do that?

You can use the 'Export Theme' option in Admin CP >Display > Theme Management > Export your skin.

It will take backup of the entire current theme you are having including images and CSS.

Well, I'm not sure why does this happen. I checked again and the changes I suggested looks fine :|

You can either switch to phpBB3 or allow me access to your templates so I ca check for the problem myself. You need to give me founder account ID and password for that. If you want me to fix that, PM me the details Smile
