Hidden for members, seen by Mods? Empty Hidden for members, seen by Mods?

Post by Tiggati September 5th 2012, 9:57 am

If this is in the wrong forum. Please let me know and I'll try and contact a moderator to move it for me. Thank you Smile

Is it possible to have forums and topics where Members can read them and post in them. But have moderators and admins hide content(posts) from other members? or have posts automatically hidden?

So lets say this is a topic with posts

Topic Name: Hey there!

Posts below.

Administrator post: Hey all this is an idea I came up with .....(post continues)

Member 1 Post: That's a good idea!

Member 2 post: I like that idea too!

Member 3 post: The contents of this message have been hidden ( Or.. Only Moderators and Administrators can see this post )

Moderator post: Excuse me Member 3. That language is not tolerated in these forums. I have hidden your post because it's offensive and breaks the Forum Rules.

I was just wondering if an admin/moderator can hide posts in topics?
And also have it so that certain Topics and Admin/Moderator posts can be viewed but once a post by a member is made, they get hidden. (Same as the example I made in quotes. But as soon as a member posts, it goes hidden to everyone except a certain group. Eg. Administrators & Moderators)

If my post isn't clear enough, please ask Smile

Thank you.
Tiggati Very good

It's not possible to prevent a specific username; among all other usernames on your forum; from seeing/reading a content (post) on any forum/topic. I highly doubt that you could do that, however you can obviously allow moderators to edit hateful or foolish posts in topics.

According to your ''Moderator post'', I can conclude you do NOT want specific words in your forum. You can censor! Go to:

1. ACP.
2. Advanced mode.
3. General tab.
4. Word censoring under Censoring box.
5. Read the explanation an then you can know what to do (u can notice an option named as 'Replacement', that's a replacement of the censored word, you can AUTOMATICALLY (obviously) censor specific words and replace them with the words you got in your 'Replacement' field. Wink
6. Save.

Note: You can NOT disallow members from viewing a post and allow moderators to viewing in the same time in the same topic.

I doubt that's possible. Wink

Good luck.

I know about the censor/filter.

I want moderators and administrators to still see what the member said and have their post hidden from everyone else.

I suppose I'll just have to get my Moderators to move the topics and posts that should be deleted into a forum where only moderators+ can view if there isn't a way for what I want :p

It's just a game called RuneScape has it in their forums, and I was just wondering if forumotion might be able to do the same thing is all.

Well you can create a forum to where members can only post but not read what is in the forum, then just have permissions set for moderators to view and read what was posted.

the only problem with this is when the member send the post, they will not be able to see it. so make sure you have rules set for them to preview the post first and make sure is everything is the way they want it before the send it.

Other then that you can use hide tags, but as soon as a member replies to the thread they will be able to see the content.. Unfortunately because forumotion dose not yet have the option for admin or moderators to approve a post first that's about the only two ways i know of doing it right now..

so you will basically just have the forum permissions for members to view the forum and to open topics, not to read them.

Please change the title of your topic, that is related to your question/issue, so that other users will be able to find their question/issue using the search engine.

so is this solved, the only real option you have is what i said if you wanted to do it like that?

and that would be, members can start a new topic and post, but they will not be able to see the post or even their own post either. only mods and admins will be able to see if you set it up as i explained.. or hide tags but they are not real hide tags.
