Completed link codeing problem please help

Post by KCUF on September 20th 2012, 12:34 am

<script src='http://hbhost.googlecode.com/files/rainbow-link.js'/> this is suppose to be for the link to make them flash in different color i think its for the hover link but its not working idk if it has to have a.hover for it or whhat so thats why i came here to get help with it but i opened up the file and it said to do this "" Read it somehow even if my English text is a little wrong! ;-) */ /* */ /* Usage: */ /* Insert '' into the BODY section, */ /* right after the BODY tag itself, before anything else. */ /* You don't need to add "onMouseover" and "onMouseout" attributes!! */ /* */ /* If you'd like to add effect to other texts(not link texts), then */ /* add 'onmouseover="doRainbow(this);"' and */ /* 'onmouseout="stopRainbow();"' to the target tags. */ /* */ /""

If you're just looking for your links to glow when you hover over them then use this code and place it in your css. It's only one color though and not rainbow colors.

Display/Pictures & colors/colors/css stylesheet

Code:
a:hover {
  text-shadow: 0px 0px 8px #7CFC00; height: 50px;
  }

You can change the color by replacing the 7CFC00 with proper color code, it's set to be green now

this is not a CSS code. you need to place that script file above the body and inbetween the head tags. just send me the link of where you got this from and ill explain it to you better. oh and by the way don't double post because they mods get mad about that. delete one of your post lol

ok so give this a whirl my friend

lets try this instead:

create a new js file in your ACP>MODULES>New Javascript page

insert this code, select all pages.
Code:

(function($) {
    $.fn.rainbow = function(options) {
        this.each(function() {

            options.originalText = $(this).html();
            options.iterations = 0;
            if (!options.pauseLength) {
                options.pauseLength = options.animateInterval;
            }
            $(this).data('options',options);

            if (options.pad) {

                for (x = 0; x < options.originalText.length; x++) {
                    options.colors.unshift(options.colors[options.colors.length-1]);
                }
            }

            $.fn.rainbow.render(this);

        });
    }

    $.fn.pauseRainbow = function() {
        this.each(function() {
            var options = $(this).data('options');
            if (options) {
                options.animate = false;
                $(this).data('options',options);
            }
        });
    }

    $.fn.resumeRainbow = function() {
        this.each(function() {
            var options = $(this).data('options');
            if (options) {
                options.animate = true;
                $(this).data('options',options);
                $.fn.rainbow.render(this);
            }
        });
    }

    $.fn.rainbow.render = function(obj) {

            var options = $(obj).data('options');
            var chars = options.originalText.split('');

            options.iterations++;

            var newstr = '';
            var counter = 0;
            for (var x in chars) {

                if (chars[x]!=' ') {
                    newstr = newstr + '<span style="color: ' + options.colors[counter] + ';">' + chars[x] + '</span>';
                    counter++;
                } else {
                    newstr = newstr + ' ';

                }

                if (counter >= options.colors.length) {
                    counter = 0;
                }
            }
            $(obj).html(newstr);

            var pause = (options.iterations % options.colors.length == 0);

            if (options.animate) {

                (
                    function(obj,interval) {
                        var options = $(obj).data('options');
                        var i = setTimeout(function() {
                            $.fn.rainbow.shift(obj);
                        },interval);
                        options.interval = i;
                        $(obj).data('options',options);
                    }
                )(obj,pause?options.pauseLength:options.animateInterval);
            }

    }

    $.fn.rainbow.shift = function(obj) {

        var options = $(obj).data('options');
        var color = options.colors.pop();
        options.colors.unshift(color);
        $.fn.rainbow.render(obj);

    }

})(jQuery);

Click save.

Then you can go back to it, reason i had you save was to see what actually was calling.

now this is the call.

Code:

$('.class').rainbow({
    colors: [
        '#FF0000',
        '#f26522',
        '#fff200',
        '#00a651',
        '#28abe2',
        '#2e3192',
        '#6868ff'
    ],
    animate: true,
    animateInterval: 100,
    pad: false,
    pauseLength: 100,
});

add that to the bottom of the script that i had you paste above, very very bottom!
you can see this in action at http://jsfiddle.net/hazeB/

To edit this code to your liking ill explain here!

Code:

$('.class').rainbow({ //change .class to what the class you are changing to!
    colors: [
        '#FF0000', //this is one color
        '#f26522', //this is another
        '#fff200', //so forth and so forth, chose your colors whatever you want them
        '#00a651',
        '#28abe2',
        '#2e3192',
        '#6868ff'
    ],
    animate: true, //keep true if you want it to animate if not write false
    animateInterval: 100, //animate interval change it to go faster or slower higher the number slower it will go, 1 is fast 600 is slow
    pad: false, //keep false, if true it will be a solid color with rainbow effecting
    pauseLength: 100,//pause between each animation
});

once you have it the way you want. save it. and all the classes that you chose will be rainbow effect..

also you can add multiple classes!
Code:
$('.class,.dif,.another').rainbow({
make sure you put a comma in between, also you can do divs as so
Code:
$('#class').rainbow({
please thank if this helped. Hope you enjoy

open the one you created first, then go to the bottom of it and paste the second code i gave you. (the clean one not the one with all the examples) and you should be all set.

if you went to the link i gave you it shows you how its written the jsfiddle site. shows you it working.

same location. in the code you will see

Code:
$('a').animate( { color: hue }, 50);
if you dont want all those links create this
Code:
$('a.gensmall,a.gen,a.genmed').animate( { color: hue }, 50);
for faster
Code:
$('a').animate( { color: hue }, 1);
for slower
Code:
$('a').animate( { color: hue }, 1000);
