Solved Invision: How do I change Author Column width?

Post by blackrose538 on September 20th 2012, 2:48 pm

Hello everyone!
I'd be really greatful if someone could help me with that... so... I've got a forum: http://haunted-island.create-a-forum.com/ and recently added a new skin.
This time it's Invision and I can't use templates with it, so, does anyone know how I can change the column width for the author column for an Invision forum?

Thanks!

Add this to your css & check.
Code:
tr th.starter {
width:100px !important;
}

could try this maybe?

Code:
table.ipbtable th.last-post2{width:22%;}
table.ipbtable th.icon{empty-cells:show;text-align:center;width:1%;}
element.style{width:2%}
table.ipbtable th.forum2{text-align:left;width:40%;}
table.ipbtable th.replies, table.ipbtable th.topics,table.ipbtable th.views{width:6%}
table.ipbtable th.starter {width: 23%;}

thanks, but it's actually similiar to what Sanket posted. Still no luck with changing that width. Sad

I read somewhere online that the table width can't be changed with CSS and something about the tables not being flexible... at least not for Invision... does anyone know if that's true?

well thats all the CSS i pulled from your th classes. They had no set width in the markup only CSS. I use firebug to grab your coding. starter is where you are trying to change, so maybe a !important after the width but before the ;

Code:
.centered .author{
width:10%;
}

this worked well for me using firebug

well, that would be what Sanket had posted and that also didn't work.

I might not be a pro in CSS, but I've figured that starter means as much as author... so far the configuration I made on the original CSS file that came with skin have worked just fine, just this width thing doesn't work Sad

Code:
.centered .author{
width:10%;

try adding this instead then

Code:
td .row1 .centered .author,.row2 .centered .author{
width:10% !important;
}

or even

Code:
.centered .author{
width:10% !important;
}

cuz it works in realtime so something is interupting it. the !important will override it

well, don't think I'm stupid or something, but for me this just doesn't work. I've tried !important before but somehow it just doesn't want to change... at least not in the topic list section. Maybe it does change something somewhere, but not what I wanted changed.

But like I said... it's not that important anymore.

Ok, and no i was saying that you were stupid. Have you tried looking on other browsers to check if it is changing it and maybe it could be chrome, which i doubt. But alright then, just close the discussion then. Sorry

well, I did try it on Internet Explorer and I even downloaded Firefox to try... sometimes though it just seems to act up and changes don't appear. I'll try again tomorrow, maybe it'll work, maybe it won't.

Thanks so much for trying to help, really means a lot to me. Smile
