Solved Reply Box: Width, Text and Background Color

Post by Rii SouL on September 20th 2012, 8:03 pm

Hello everyone Hello

I am new, and I've been working on my forum for about 10 days now trying to change the width, the text and the background color of the reply box while typing.

My background is clear/transparent, so this box is also with clear background and the text is black. can't see anything I am typing Sad
I've been reading posts for days now. By the way I am so grateful to forumotion and LGforum I have learned so much!!!! :wouhou: But I cant find anything regarding this topic so my apologies if I have posted in wrong section or re-posted something that has already been addressed Embarassed If it has I would greatly appreciate if anyone can pint me in the right direction with link? And if not, is there anyone that could help me?

Here is an image of what I mean in case I haven't explained correctly:

[img][/img]

I also would like to change the width of the smiley box and my overall background image. As you will be able to see the marks on the image, but please let me know if I need to make a separate post for that or if there's a link available for reference.

Thank you in advance,
Rii

Thank you very much DarkGlow Smile

That works but I will have to leave it as is since it messes up the layout. It appears under the reply box, way to the left corner. Sad

But thank you again for your help. Wink

There was two codes, one for reply and another for quick reply. Just figured you wanted the quick reply. Haha.

For size of smilies go to ACP>DISPLAY>POST AND PRIVATEMESAGES>POST MESSAGING BODY

find this code

Code:
<td valign="middle" align="center">
<table width="100" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="5" border="0">
<tbody>
<tr align="center">
<td class="gensmall" colspan="8">
<iframe class="row1" width="220px" scrolling="auto" height="280" frameborder="0" onmouseout="helpline('<br />')" onmouseover="helpline('z')" border="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="/smilies.forum?mode=smilies_frame" name="smilies">
</td>
I set the color to red what you need to change. I used 300px and worked beautiful Smile

Change the width of the iframe to 300px and should be ok, you can edit the size to whatever you want.

Again change the width here in the above code

Code:
<iframe class="row1" width="CHANGE THIS" scrolling="auto" height="280" frameborder="0"

hoped this helped ya

nextlevelgaming, again thank you so much for your time and help Smile

But I cant find that anywhere on the templates, and I went through all the ones that had the word "post" and "smileys" on title scratch
Did I mention my forum's version is punbb? lol sorry Embarassed
I cant find that. So maybe due to my forum version, it might not be the same?

Forgot to mention:
I actually found a post where I was to learn how to change the background color of the reply boxes. With the code your gave me, I was able to change the size a bit. But the size of both boxes are not that big or all that different from the way they were, but I think its due to my version (but since just learning, not sure if that is the case). though they are a bit bigger Laughing
Don't know if a new image of how they look now would help in any way.

Code:
#text_editor_textarea{
width:#px;
height:200px;
}
just replace the # after width with a number start low like 200px then 250px then 300px to see which you like. you can go larger.

Not Working Sad

But it's really no problem. My main concern was the background colors and that was fixed :wouhou:

Again, thank you very much for all your time and troubles trying to help me, you've been great Wink

This can be marked as solved.
