31- Is there any way I can make it possible that only members can view the forum and post to the forum? Guests (non-members) can see the board and categories/forums, but cannot read the posts.

#2- Also, I notice when I move cursor to the rigfht column, there is a small pop-up that says "Merry Christman." How do I get rid of that please?

#3- I notice only my Forums are showing on main page and not the Category.
I created a Category and put a Forum in it, but only the Forum is showing. Who? Did I do something wrong?

Thank you.

1) General>Categories and Forums
Click on a forum name
Permissions tab
Give all the permissions to members
For guests, check view the forum but uncheck read the topics.

2) Add this to your css.
Code:
li.row:hover {
    background-image: none !important;
}

3) Display>Structure & hierarchy
Split categories on Index: Medium
Save.
See if that helps.

Well, I think I got the categories and forums to show as I wanted them to show on the main page.
#1- However, I can't get the forum set-up so that visitors can only see the main page (categories and forums), but cannot read/view the posts (or ask/answer questions, etc.).
However, I went to General/Catelgoires and Forum and clicked on the "Forum Permission Control" and set them all to Members. When I save and then go back there later, I see everyone of them is now reading "All" rather than "Members." What is happening please? Am I doing something wrong?
#2- I now also see a large banner ad at the top of each page. I thought this forum was banner/ad free. Please advise. If it does show banner ads, I guess I will have to look for another forum.

Thank you.

#2 To remove ads, you have to use credits.

Administration Panel > Misc. > Credits Management

Only members can view Slgray10

My son told me he read on the Internet that "No ads or external branding on your forum."
That is not true then? I( don't see any mention of price for credits, etc.)

Also, how to get rid of that "Merry Chirsitmas" that keeps showing everytime we move cursor over to right side of forum?

Hi,

#1

You basically want your members/registered users to view the forum, however not the posts inside it? If so, go to the permissions tab once again, get into the advanced mode then you can see further options to tick.

Also, show me that merry x-mas thingy in a screenshot please.

Have you tried the Code that Sanket placed above?

Code:
li.row:hover {
    background-image: none !important;
}

I don't know what that means. I don't know CSS, etc. I only know a little about HTML.
