that website uses a combination of CSS/jQuery/html

It has a function for limit when scroll a certain amount then the jQuery changes the css attribute
Code:
position:fixed;
to
Code:
position:absolute;

The html is a simple marquee I believe, yet marquee's are honestly deprecated in much of the new coding, you can still use it just like fixed is also deprecated by the W3C but I still use it. Honestly you are better off looking up some jQuery and css my friend. If you don't know, I will try to write something up for you later in the day. Please be patient

Solved Re: Forum Name Effect and Bar at the Top?

Post by nextlevelgaming on October 5th 2012, 2:49 am

Ok Im glad to say I have it working now. At first it was giving me problems, freezing the webpage, freezing the marquee, blah blah blah. LOL but now I figured out what I did wrong. So follow these steps to the dot!!!

First go to ACP>GENERAL>MESSAGES and EMAILS>ANNOUNCEMENTS

Activate announcements : Yes
Announcements display : Homepage Portal All pages. CLICK ONE OF THESE
Scrolling : Go left Go right Go up Go down Deactivate. CLICK ONE OF THESE
Scrolling speed : I did 100
The text moves at the pixel number rate indicated in seconds..
Stop time : 0 or 5 is fine
Each announcement stops during the indicated time in seconds. (0 for a continuous scrolling).
Space between announcements (in pixels) : 100
Announcements block height (in pixels) : 25
The block height will be equal to the highest announcement if the indicated height is smaller..

Ok now click save

Then go back to that page
and click the plus sign to add announcements. Must have a title and message. Message will show not the title

click save whenever you are done!

Now for the CSS

insert this code into your stylesheet

Code:
div #fa_ticker_container {
    background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #000000;
    left: 0;
    margin: 0 !important;
    padding: 0;
    position: fixed !important;
    top: 0;
    z-index: 3;
}
.imagemarquee{right:0;top:0;position:fixed;z-index:4;}

Ok save that

now go to ACP>DISPLAY>TEMPLATES>GENERAL>OVERALL_HEADER

right after the body tag insert this code

Code:
<div class="imagemarquee"><img src="http://www.orphanbracelet.org/templates/Ubuntu/images/facebook_corner.png"/></div>

click save and then click the plus sign to add your modified template.

and that should be it Smile

See it only took me a minute to figure everything out correctly. Now if you want it to stop scrolling at a certain point I am working on the jQuery now. I mean unless rideem or someone else helps you first is fine. but that works!
