Solved Log In Form and/or Input Fields Background Color

Post by KaizerMK on October 11th 2012, 3:25 am

Some Explanation: Due to the nature of the background of my forum, text has the best visibility when it is white. The problem with this was that with many fields, the background for entering information was also white.

I struggled with this issue and then decided to explore and then I found this section via Admin Panel > Display > Colors

I thought this fixed the problem as it changed the background to the input fields for posting in the forums to black, while leaving the text white, but then someone mailed me elsewhere and said they couldn't see what they were typing at all when logging in.

It appears that the input fields for this section still have a white background with white text.

The Question: How do I make it so this field also has a black background? Which section of the panel would it be or if I need to enter CSS, what would the code be?

Some Important Notes: I am using phpBB2 (subsilver), and the Shadow Roleplay skin by xxbraveshadowxx from Hitskin.com.

As always, I thank you,

-Kaiz

Add this to your css & check.
Code:
input {
    color: #ff0000 !important;
}

This changed the text you enter there, as well as the text in other input fields, to the color red.

While this makes logging in visible, it doesn't exactly answer the question as I only wanted to change the background of those particular fields displayed in the screenshot to the color black.

Thanks though for providing a temporary solution, but I'd really like to keep the text white and change the background black.

From what I can tell, this changed nothing.

Everything is back to what it was before I did anything.

The log in screen's input fields still have a white background, but now the text is back to also being white.

You were right. The code was added, but I accidentally had "input{" in there twice so I guess it made the code invalid.

Unfortunately, this code did do what I wanted but it also gave all the grey buttons with black text a black background as well making them impossible to read.

We're close though so I definitely thank you for that.

Yes, i think you should make the font black instead of changing the background color.
Because it changes the background color of the login button as well.

Doing that wouldn't work for this particular forum unless I can change ONLY the text for the log in screen, which the other code doesn't do that. the other code changed that text as well as other text to the color red.

If there is no way to change just the background color of the Log In input fields, then I guess I'll just have to change the text color to red... but before doing that, I'd rather try and give others a chance to see if my original request is possible before marking this as "solved due to being impossible" or something to that effect.

This changed the text black, but also changed other text black making things invisible.

I'd really prefer to change the background of the specified fields black rather than messing with the color of my text because my text color is perfect everywhere except this one spot.

Try it with the backgroun-color.
Code:
input[type="text"], input[type="password"] {
background-color: #000000 !important;
}
