Solved Semi-Transparent Colours

Post by Korvic on October 11th 2012, 3:53 am

Hello all! Korvic here, I know it is possible to make some colours transparent, however I was wondering if there was an ability to make some colours semi-transparent. Preferably editable by percentage via CSS or a menu. Thank you for any help you give!

Solved Re: Semi-Transparent Colours

Hello Korvic,

The easiest way I can explain is with the following example;
Code:
#chatbox {background:rgba(0,0,0,0.5)!important;}

All depends on your forum version, for the class name or variable ("#chatbox" this would be for punbb) I'm new so not 100% sure if I am describing it correctly. My apologies if I am but hope the description is understandable.
The bg code with your desired color the "0" represent the colors red, green, blue (rgba) sorry no idea what the a stands for lol, and the decimal number for the opacity/transparency. Might or might not need the "!important"

Hope his s helpful. bye

Regards, Wink

I use this on my forum backgrounds, I can provide sceenshots as examples if you'd like.

But wouldn't that code only work on the chatbox? I'm looking for the table rows and such to be slightly transparent. Just want to make sure before I start shoving code where it doesn't belong.

that's why I said:

Yes that is the code for my chat box. that was the easiest example I could find. But you need to find your div's/var's or whatever they are called, the objects you want to have backgrounds changed on.. and add the background code bit: "{background:rgba(0,0,0,0.5)!important;}"

Hope this was a bit clearer tongue

Add this code to your CSS stylesheet:

Go to AP>>Display>>Colors>>CSS stylesheet>>
Code:
        body {
            opacity: 0.85;
            filter: alpha(opacity=85);
        }
