Navbar Location

Post by Hardcore Gamer on October 20th 2012, 2:36 am

I plan to put some navbar images instead of using links without the images. I'm wondering how I would be able to raise the navbar up, more close to a header? I want to keep the navbar in the center also.

After trying to do this, and a few other things, I think I now realise why people don't like phpbb2. I can do what you're asking on the other forum types easily, but on phpbb2...the navbar doesn't seem to have it's own...you know...'thing'? It's the same for other parts.

Hopefully someone can show how this is possible without totally mucking up the layout of the whole forum.

At this point, I am just wanting to move my navbar links up a little higher, so it's closer to my forums banner.

You can either use the CSS to
1)move the logo header down, or
2) move the nav up
3) change the height if they are set heights, if not then this is not an issue for you.

Code for this? Very good

Also, is there a code to make the navbar links/text in bold?

yeah there is

Go find this, in ACP>DISPLAY>TEMPLATES>GENERAL>OVERALL_HEADER

Code:
<table cellspacing="2" cellpadding="0" border="0" align="{MENU_POSITION}">
               <tr>
                  <td align="{MENU_POSITION}"{MENU_NOWRAP}>{GENERATED_NAV_BAR}</td>
               </tr>
            </table>

you can either A) Inline style it or B) CSS code it

inline would be
Code:
<table style="margin-top:-10px;"
add that to the table line above

CSS

Code:
.navtable{margin-top:-10px;}
add that to your CSS stylesheet and add the class to the generated html like so
Code:
<table cellspacing="2" class="navtable" cellpadding="0" border="0" align="{MENU_POSITION}">

Change the -10px in both ways (don't use both chose one to your liking) to whatever works, -15px, -20px, so on and so forth

Oh, damn! Thank you so much. This works, and looks great!

Is it possible to make the navbar links in bold?

Code:
font-weight:bold;
