To change the navigation bars.

Change the image url's there.

Find some nice sets of navigation bars here.

Sweet n metal lynn, if you are fairly new to building a forum many things about this can seem daunting but please know that you will soon find your way around the Admin Panel (or the engine room) & it will become your best friend. Make sure you always use the Advanced settings in the Admin Panel as the Simple settings are very basic.

You will soon learn how to do all the things to alter the appearance of your forum, as I did, such as changing its looks to suit you. Altering the basic bones of a skin will become so easy. If I could do it anyone can. Setting up a Test forum can be a big help, too. You can try all the new stuff, such as colours, buttons, header pics, new skins, etc before you use them in your main forum.

Forumotion has so much here to help you such as Tricks & Tips, FAQ, etc & plenty of helpful members. It is a great place for forum owners to learn how to set up their forums as they want them to be.

So far you seem to be doing great. The only way I know how to change the colour of the navigation bar is to make your own buttons. That way you can have them in different colours if you wish. There some excellent button making programs & sites around as well as some good ones in the Graphics section here.

The only way I know how to put lines between the topics is in Colors in Display & have the Row Line colour different to the background shades but I do not know if that is what you mean. After looking at your forum, it does seem as that is what you have already.

All the best.

Post by sweet n metal lynn on December 7th 2012, 6:02 am

yes thats kinda what i mean ..
we was aiming for dark lines to go in between the threads
(nextlevelgaming) got on my site and fixed it
but the next day i signed on it was gone
we was (SERIOUSLY W.T.F ) where did the lines go
i at times i am past confused .other times i am like damn that was easy ...i guess it just depends on what your doing
but i will not mess with the css panel ...
no clue what it is =but it looked confusing and i am pretty sure nor me or Mr Tracy wants to mess it up in any way ....we choice to make the forum so that if you needed a place to go with understanding a kind heart and a caring soul and willing to help and listen and offer support ....
so we really have no clue on settings -but have the best intent when we made the forum .....

Don't worry, I try not to mess with my CSS, either, except to add code that has been supplied by the great technically minded helpers here.

You can change the row line colours between the topics as I mentioned above. Go to your Admin Panel>>Display>>Table Header>>Row line color & add the HexCC of the colour you would like to use. If you left click on the small window there which has a type of code, with numbers & letters like this #33333B , a colour chart will appear & you can select what colour you would like to use. Click Save when you have done this.

Is the above example a Forumotion forum, Lynne?? You might have to go through all the available Hitskins to see if there is one similar to this & change your forum over to it. It is easy enough to do.

Other than that, I do not know how you can easily achieve the result you want. You may have to compromise & obtain a similar result by experimenting with the colours in Display.

Maybe one of the code experts here could come to the rescue. Very Happy

See if this is what you want:
Admin Panel > Display > Structure & Hierarchy:
Sub-level links on index : Set it to yes
> Save

That will show forums/sub forums on the index.
