You should be able to do this in punn template the same way. Yes they are slightly different but you should still be able to do it. I have not looked or tied it yet myself and will when i have more time latter. But i am almost certain it should work the same way.

Then if not i will see if there is another way.

and what abaout the java script jquery way? all you do is add it to your java script page??

Oh this is one of LGForum things, it looks like his site is closed right now for maintenance.
As far as if this would be compatible for punn or phpbb2, he will have to answer that. I think most of his creations/alternations or usually for phpbb3.
But he would be the man to ask if it is possible for punbb or phpbb2.
