Moderation Panel (alterantive to Admin Panel)*

Post by Raph95 on February 2nd 2008, 3:25 pm

First topic message reminder :

So, what do you think? Same like Admin CP, just less features! For exapmle, you have GFX Mod, and he will have only Styles in his "Moderator CP"!

I voted yes and I also think that it should include the ability for moderators to activate new members when the forum setting is configured to "Manually activate members"

I know there's the option for Automatic activation, but due to a trolling incident on my forum qiute recently I had to change the settings to manual activation.

The only problem is that if I can't get on the pc or when i go on holiday, new members could be left waiting for quite a while to be activated.

i think the moderation panel right now is good enough...
i have not seen this on any other forum... its always been the admin control panel... we can't give mods too much power. that is not their place

No! Then Moderators would be almost the exact same, so what would be the point. Admin.'s have that so that they can access data easier. Moderators only really need a few things.

And that's the very reason we should do it.

It's not being done on other forums so it'd give Forumotion an edge, and sometimes mods have different duties. Being able to access what mods can do and what mods do what would be eternally helpful.

Well, if you don't like Moderation panel, you can dis activate it... At least, I think that would be.

In my opinion, we really, really need it. It's great suggestion, Raph95! For example, you have a GFX-er in your Forum. It's obvius that you will give him part of your Admin Panel (in this case, "style"). It sad that this suggestion fell down, and that nobody reads it. I'd like that Forumotion does this stuff as soon as possible.

Yes. If moderators get this function, they can do a much better moderating schedule.

i vote yes, atleast let it be set where the mods can access a members profile and ban them if necessary but not be able to change any other info like the admin can. there really needs to be some sort of way a mod can ban a member, not just the admin. this may be the way

Come on guys! Moderators don't need it. Moderators are supposed to keep the forum clean on the outside while Admin's keep it clean on the outside. That's what the quick mod tools are for!

The thing of it is..., What is the point of a "Mod Panel" when all their functions are in the "Quick Mod Tools?" If you want your Mods to tootle around "behind the scenes" then, give them Admin Priviledges.

that wouldnt be the point in this case, its just to allow them access to other things. me personally would like if my mods can ban someone, i dont like 100's of pm's saying he/she did this and did that, make a warning point change and ban them. they need rights also.

It would also be cool if you could customize your own moderation panel with new options available that the admin can toggle on and off.

@KQ wrote:If so, Admins should be able to choose a list of features that the moderators get. Such as "Add Post editing to Moderator abilities"
So we can set up each mod Group how we want it set.

Also, if this is done I believe Stat adding, and group accepting should be added to a Moderator's list of duties available, for on a site such as mine where stat adding and group joining is very important it would help if the mods were able to do some of this as well.

Just a suggestion.
