Solved Someone claiming to be hacked?

Post by Demonicpulse on December 10th 2012, 3:30 am

Well I had someone claiming on my forum that they have been hacked. But no one else has power to do this and I didn't do it to them because I wouldn't. Is there anyway to resolve this?

Hello,

Firstly I would like to state that with Forumotion, your forum is very secure. It is backed up regularly and if you ever need to restore it, you can do so using our utilities here: http://www.forumotion.com/en/utils/

To protect yourself against hackers, you should be aware of your security. That is, make sure your password is not a very basic one so that it may be guessed. Also make sure that your computer does not have a virus on it.

Have a look at the following topics for further information:

If it is their email addresses, they will have to contact their email providers.

In administration panel exist number ways to maximise security to members and your own.
After all creating fake email isn't hard, one minute work,i use for every comunity diferent email,in that way i protected my general email.
Sending emaill message to "hacker" it's easy way to get hacked,in my forum i make that email comunications bettween members are denied, and private msgs,so they(hackers) searching diferent ways to get email info like acting as woman with msg "sharing pics".And something like that can't success in my place.

So my suggest should be,don't give real informations, use fake informations,in forum do setup for max security. And of course, strongest posible password.

I would just tell them to create a new email and have them send you the new address they want to use.
You can then add in their new enmail they want to use. Then you can change their pass word and send it to there new email. Once they log into the forum they can then go and change their pass to what they want.

Thne be sure to tell them never to share the pass or information with anyone.
