In progress copying an exitsing forum

Post by williemcd December 20th 2012, 9:47 pm

My friend is a founder of a forum that shares the same interest as me. She has given me permission to copy her site as mine. I've defined a forum Vafa.forumotion but cannot log in as admin on day two. Unfortunately, the default skin I selected was white background and white text so tripping through the setup is rather hard but now... I cannot log in as admin. The send new password page is asking for my s/n and email. I've tried what I think is the supplied screen name as well as Admin as the user name.
I know the email addy is correct because I've tried to add myself as a regular user but it's rejected due to email addy already registered.
What I love to do is import the skeleton of my friends forum but still retain founders status... Any hints? Bill

I have no clue what that means. Can a founder, do an extract (copy) of her forum and load it onto mine so that I can have a skeleton setup?

It means that you can not transfer one forum to another one. You can not transfer members from one forum to another forum. They will have to register on the new forum. Also post, topics, and messages can not be transferred. You will have to post them on the new forum manually.

OK, I'm resigned to setting up the new forum manually.. but that still doesn't address how to retrieve my admin password so I can make progress. I've tried my s/n with email addy and I've tried Admin with my email addy and I've requested a pw reset with both and nothing comes through.. and yes, I've checked my spam folder.. and the Email addy being used as I tried to set up a new user / registration and the site indicates that that email addy is already registered to a user. NO, it's not resolved. I read the suggested link, contacted via PM one of the mods and haven't heard back from them. BIll

Leeloo two days ago. It is suggested that I post two messages in the forum before I'm able to contact. I tried to post to the new member intro but am told I don't have access!.. Catch 22 or is a response within a thread adequate to satisfy the two message threshold?

For resetting the password, you can send me the details again since Leeloo won't be available until monday.
