Question About Recovering Founder

Post by Hopalong on January 4th 2013, 1:35 am

Hello,

About 3 months ago I had posted here about our founder being inactive there being absolutely no admins on our forums now. You guys told me I had to wait 6 months & 1 day and follow the steps outlined by MrMario. However, one step seems to have a bit of a hitch for us, since none of us are admins. Specifically, this one:

@MrMario wrote:
►Printing screen list of special users (in the admin panel, tab "User & Groups" then left, "special users").

Am I meant to skip this step, since none of us have the ability to use the administration panel? Or is there some other procedure you'd have me do?

Anyways, just trying to make the process as painless as possible; I'll be contacting any of the Administrators, Managers, or Support Moderators about changing the founder in 5 days time.

Hi,

If none of you guys don't have access to the Administration Panel, then of course it's impossible. Although, you can take a screenshot of the Administrator(s) that are in the Administrating group?

Unfortunately it's a hidden group, so I as far as I know that's not possible.

Well, in that case you'll have to wait and see what LeeLoo, our Pro administrator says about this. So, please be patient she might reply to/see your thread tomorrow morning.

No problem, just seat tight. You'll have an acurate response (solution) tomorrow.

If there are other administrators or moderators you must provide written agreement stating that they accept that you take the status of the founder.
(This agreement should be written as a message on the forum by each member concerned, otherwise it will not be valid.)

If there is another admin. He/She must also provide their written agreement stating that they authorize you to become a founder. Then provide screen printing or the link to the topic in the same manner explained above.
(Must not have been connected for at least six months & one day.)

Maybe not this one.

It is possible, they'll just have to follow the same steps from; " You are part of the administration of a forum and the founder is absent"

Doesn't that seem like a major oversight then? I really do not want to have to make a whole new forum just to get the support we need. There has to be something that can be done to resolve this.

Can you do this:
3 - You're not part of the administration of a forum and the founder is absent

There is always a way to recover the account founder. Simply fill in the same conditions as above, plus this one:

►If there is another admin. He/She must also provide their written agreement stating that they authorize you to become a founder. Then provide screen printing or the link to the topic in the same manner explained above.
(Must not have been connected for at least six months & one day.)
?

I just noticed that this is extra information not the solution.

I can do all of that except the requirement listed above, where it requires print-screening the list of special users, since that requires the administrators panel. The only person who has access to it right now, is the founder.

As for receiving a written agreement, there are no other admins so I can also fill that requirement.

ok

Yes, so we're waiting for January 8th to change founders, since he still hasn't shown up after multiple attempts to contact him to change settings.

Then would it be wrong to state that the 3rd option on MrMario's thread is flawed ( not part of the admin board and the founder is absent)? If it is the case that I absolutely need access to the administrators panel, that is extremely frustrating. I cannot have it be the case that I either continue without support that I absolutely need, or change forums and leave whatever we had behind.

The third option also requires another administrator on the forum to help you.

That is very troubling news, but thank you for the clarification. I had assumed that when he said:

That this meant the necessity of an admin was not actually needed. There must be something else that can be done besides waiting for the founder, since he will not be back any time soon. Is there anything any forumotion moderators or forumotion managers can do to help me out here? I am willing to try anything to get the forums back in our hands.
