What exactly do you mean by default group?

So the user's username font shows the default usergroup color

The color of the member's username of a group is determine by the order of the groups.

If the member is in one group, he/she will be colored that group's color.

If the member is in more than one group, he/she will be colored the group that is listed first in the order of groups.
