Option for where members are taken after logging in Empty Option for where members are taken after logging in

Post by Richardr February 26th 2008, 11:40 pm

I would like to send my members to the portal after they log in, instead of the home page. Another option is the page they were on before they logged in.
Any other suggestions?

I voted, thanks for adding this suggestion. I meant to a while back, I don't know why I never got around to it, I must have just forgotten.

If they came to your forum directly, without extra /index.html or anything like that at the end, then they will be on your portal page. Now the hit login and after that they are back to the portal, since that is where they logged in at. The reason I like it so they go back to where they were, is what if they have been looking around, and haven't logged in yet, and see a thread they want to post to? Now the log in and they are redirected back to the home page, or if it gets changed to always be portal, they are directed back to the portal. Now they have to go find that thread again so they can leave their comment. Maybe, if this change goes through, it should be configurable by the admin. So one admin can always take them to the home page, another can always take them to the portal, and another can always take them to where they came from.

Yes, how it currently is they go to the homepage. I was just saying if the option was to take them back to where they were when they hit the login button, most of your users will probably log in from the portal page, so that is where they would go.
