Solved HTML Pages?

Post by Setsugekka on January 16th 2013, 1:00 am

Forum link here.

Hello. This is my first time skinning forumotion (I'm used to Proboards and Jcink) and it's coming along decently. However, I created many html pages for codes such as my side tables and a music player, but they only show up in the preview; never on my actual site. Is there a way around this or something that I'm missing? =/

Thank you very much in advance for the assistance.

Edit: By sidetables, I didn't mean the widgets. I'm using Smangii's side tables.

=/ Bump. I'm trying to figure out how come whenever I place a javascript code or a HTML code in the javascript/html management, it never shows up, even when I enable javascript and have it in the entire forum.

Did you select all pages? Or only in one?

Do you have the link to the HTML pages where it will be on the forum? Usually in a JavaScript code, an announcement, the homepage message, or the forum description?

I'm not sure how you would link a javascript message. When I added the code for my music player, as an example, in the HTML page it showed up in the preview but not on the actual site.

The only way to get it to work was to put all of the code from the HTML page and in the homepage message. =/ Everything on this site is thus in the homepage message. I'm not familiar with the Forumotion system of doing things since I come from coding on IF/jcink and Proboards which isn't as complex in my opinion, but I would have thought there would be a more efficient way of doing it? I hope I am making sense.

Hi,

Whenever saving the HTML page, it'll redirect you to your list of HTML pages you have created, look for:

"link URL," under it, it'll provide you the links.

If you don't mind, could you paste your HTML code in? I'll try it on ny forum and see if it's just you doing a wrong step or if it's something else.

Are the HTML pages showing up in the preview after you've submitted them? I know that sometimes they will show up right as you are previewing them, but not after you submit them. (Apparently forumotion has some censored words in their HTML pages management to keep people from potentially breaking the TOS. It's a good idea on their part, but sometimes things like that can trip up pages that aren't doing anything against the TOS as well. )

Okay, thank you Sir Chivas. How do I insert the link to my code in say, my homepage message?

I tried <a href="html link here"></a> but that didn't seem to work either. :/

Such a code could work.

Yes... I know how to do a link. When you click the link, the side tables show up.

I don't want a link though. :/ I want it to be that it automatically appears on the forum without having to click. I'll leave it up so that you can see for yourself. Click the "sidetables" link and it takes you to what the page looks like w/ the sidetables, but I want the sidetables to appear as a default, along with all my other codes.

What you can do is create a widget or navigation button that appears on the navigation bar, those are your only options, it can't just appear the way you want it..

Alright, thanks. Sorry for the questions. Again, I'm used to skinning for proboards and jcink/if. In proboards, you literally add codes to your headers and footers and that's it - there isn't as many steps.

This can be archived.
