In progress A general edit..

Post by Saddlerrad on January 28th 2013, 12:05 am

Hello there, my very 1st post so I apologise wholeheartedly if this is mis-placed or in an in-correct area. May I just say that at first site this forum looks very impressive, easy to read and if the availability of help is actually as simple as it looks from the outside then I am very happy to have stumbled across the place.

I have owned my own forum for around 6 months now. I have a reasonable idea upon the very basics of running a forum, but had a friend create and perform all the CSS/HTML/Cpanel extras as they are far, far beyond the relms of my computing mind.

Over the last few weeks and months I have began to put a plan together with regards to the forum and how I'd want it to look. I have been doing some research and have a decent plan of what I want to happen. Im currently running the forum on some old mybb software that is now a little out of date and rather plain looking. I have decided that I'd like to move across to Invision Power Board and re-design the forum around this software. My forum has a blog page, this blog page is on a seperate URL, the idea that I have come up with is to convert or migrate the wordpress blog to the same URL and page as the forum.

What I am asking, or hoping to have help with is precisely this. I will try and convert below the list of things I'd be needing or be looking for help with.

1) Installing Invision Power Board and editing a blank theme to a theme that I'd like. This would include HTML/CSS/ and Plug-in edits.
2) Migrating the Wordpress blog from the 1 URL to the forum URL, so it's more like a 'website' instead of just a forum.
3) Slightly tweaking the blog file to match the same DB as the forum.

Obviously, I may be mis-understanding this section or even this forum and IF I am then please, feel free to remove this at will. But if not, any help be it via reply, PM, E-mail or any form of AIM would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

1) You cannot host any board like Phpbb or IPB or VBulletin on Forumotion. Forumotion is a free forum host which provides a easy user interface of forums in forms of phpbb3, phpbb2, PunBB & Invision.
Various types can be viewed here
www.hitskin.com

2) Migrating-No database transfers are allowed on Forumotion.
3) Same as above.

Ahh I mis-understood, I thought this place would help regular public members with there forums that are off-site, like off-site help. How does the 'having a forum' work within this forum. If I built a forum using this site, how is it completely mine if it belongs in the servers of this forum?

Regarding the 1st part, is there a section to ask for 'offsite' help for a forum that wasn't made or belong in this section?
