Solved Change the color of the unread forums / posts

Post by Guest on February 15th 2013, 7:30 pm

Hi there and thanks for looking into this in advance!

I have a phpBB3 forum and I want the color of the unread forums / holding unread posts for anyone to light up as a orange color in the fora. What line I should add to CSS to make it happen? My board's www is in my profile.

"dl.icon[style*="unread"] {background: #FFB007!important}" doesn't work...

Thank you!

Samantha.

Solved Re: Change the color of the unread forums / posts

As you asked this on my forum, and as I explained there... the bit that says "unread" is unique to your forum and must be changed.

The Image URL for unread topics on my forum has the word 'unread' in it, which is why the code I showed you has the word 'unread' in it.

You must look at the Image URL of unread topics on your forum and choose a part of it to put in the CSS where it says "unread", as your image URLs might not contain the word "unread".

Well, LG, I'm a girl, I've started my forum like 7 month's ago. Do you really expect me to be a fully grown CSS or JS or whatever gal? My real profession is very differently! My expectations of my board grew, by being a member of your forum, now I'm asking FM staff to help me out. I still don't get it (I'm blond anyway) so pls, this is my call to FM staff. If you want to be helpfull, state very clear (copy paste like) what I should do.

I can't state clearly what to copy and paste because it is unique to your board.

If you would like me to provide you with the CSS, then you must first provide me with the Image URL of your "unread" icon.
You can find that at Display -> Pictures -> Advanced mode -> Icons for the Topics

No, I really don't know where that'll go, LG. I'm so tired. Pls, as a Premium Member, look into it for me, k? I've really had it for today. You know the credentials.

No I don't.

I've given you the path of where to look:
Display -> Pictures -> Advanced mode -> Icons for the Topics : Subject - New: What image URL do you have here?
That's all I'm asking you to provide.

OK, this Mr. LG doesn't respond, so BUMP. FM staff, respond and don't be in awe all the time. Does he pay your salary? No. Do I pay to get rid of the banners and have my .com site? Yes. So, what's it gonna be? This post has been out here for nearly a week now!

It's in the globe symbol at the bottom of the profile bar next to the post.

As LG said he told you to look for the image and use a word in it for that code

/i_folder_new.png would be

Code:
dl.icon[style*="i_folder_new"] {background: #FFB007!important}

OK, that's working now for the topics also. And how can I still have the topics icon visible and have the unread topics be marked as orange at the same time?

My CSS:
Code:

/**** UNREAD POSTS AND TOPICS COLOR ****/
dl.icon[style*="i_folder_new"] {background: #FF9900!important}
dl.icon[style*="vgc_so12.png"] {background: #FF9900!important}
/**** END UNREAD POSTS AND TOPICS COLOR ****/

Thank you all. That's working just great! This finally completed (finished) my board after 6 months. Now I'm going to write news topics, draw members in, relax and enjoy my website. This topic can be closed.
