Please install skins directly from hitskin.com
Do not install it by choosing the skin via the admin panel

First install this skin
http://en.hitskin.com/search-a-skin/prosilver-english-100015.htm
Then install whichever skin you want.

ggpalace.forumotion.net , the skin looks fine, because I restored the previous skin, yesterday. But when I install a new one, it is an error

You restored a previous theme. That's why it's mucked up. Any CSS you add now will have no effect at all. Give it a few days without touching anything.

Have you disabled your basic forum CSS or something? From the screenshots it kind of looks like that.

Make sure your control panel is set to Advanced Mode and then...

You can do this in Display >> Colors >> CSS Stylesheet

At the bottom of that page, under the custom CSS, there are two options.

Make sure Deactivate the basic CSS is set to No.

And I also advise keeping Optimize the CSS set to yes.

------

This can also happen with changing themes too much within a short timeframe, in my experience. If that's the case, give it a couple of days before messing with it again.

So you've done what everyone else has said?

Like SLGray said, try resyncing if you've already checked that you haven't disabled basic CSS.

You can do that at General >> Configuration >> Misc

If even that doesn't work then yeah, give it some time.

And of course you'll still get help. The help board has been around for years and it's not going anywhere.

Solved Re: Installing a skin disaster~

Post by Alexander Moore on February 16th 2013, 3:03 pm

If you want I can join and take a look. I feel like something isn't adding up here actually.

I went to your forum and opened the Chrome developer console. When looking through I found an error at Resources >> Stylesheets >> ggplace.forumotion.net reading "Uncaught type error: Cannot read property 'title' of null".

The error is thrown after this bit of code :

Code:
(function(){var x= document.getElementById('i_icon_mini_message') ? 0 : /[0-9]/.exec(document.getElementById('i_icon_mini_new_message').title);

That's JavaScript and I don't know my way around JS too well, but I think something there's something invalid going on here. Do you have any JavaScripts installed on your site?

You can manage your JavaScripts by going to Modules >> HTML & JAVASCRIPT >> Javascript codes management. You can disable all Javascripts by selecting No for Enable Javascript code management. This will disable all Jscripts in the Jscript management.

If that fixes the issue then...

If disabling all JavaScripts works then re-enable them one-by-one until you find the one that breaks it.

If this does nothing then it may either be a default JS of sorts...or perhaps one of your forum widgets has a code that's breaking your site. But we'll get into that if Jscripts management doesn't contain the issue.

If nothing ends up being the issue then perhaps a default code isn't working for you at the moment and you should wait for a bit to see if it works out.

As I said, I'm not too sure about JS myself. To me it sounds like it's having trouble with some kind of title property. Not sure if that would break a whole site style or if that even makes sense. Still, I'll do what I can.
