NEED HELP~SITE HACKED Couple questions ^^

I don't know if this is the proper place to put this or not, I don't want to step on any toes, but the site I help Admin keeps getting hacked and personal information keeps being stolen.

This is getting pretty serious. I have contacted the Police, but of course they are pretty much worthless. We luckily backed up all of the site onto two others sites incase the others get hacked, but we can't hack back into our original site to get the IP of where ever this person is coming from, and we want too. We wanted to know if there is anyway to get into the site, if the forum creator had a way of doing that.

Also, is there a way to block everyone from seeing the new site without confirming the IP first? Or anyway to put the site on like, super-lock down? We're takinng the proper legal measures, but we want to protect the information we already have.

Alright, well to start off you need to be the founder:

We tried the founder thing, resetting the password, when we do that, it says the administrator has banned sending new passwords, or something like that. Even for the founder.

As for the second question though. Is there anyway to super lock down the site?

Well you can go to Admin Panel>General>Configuration and scroll down and check yes for both Forum on holiday or Forum under construction. If you need more info on these just click the "?" Near them and they will provide you with the information.

It may not do much but i hope it helps.


Besides this the only option is to simply shutdown or forum or to not work on it anymore.

That's the problem, the guy hacked into the founder profile, deleted everything, changed the password and banned everyone. Also left nasty degrading messages, telling all the members to kill themselves or disappear or whatever. So, we can't get into the admin panel. The forum is also over a year old so it was hard remembering original passwords used.

Well then I'm sorry I can't really help you there. I advice you ask someone with more experienced with our problems.

I figured someone could help, if not, at least I tried. My main concern it protecting the new sites so this doesn't happen. I already have the legal stuff worked out.
