In progress UPDATED: Problems with new Drop Down Bar CSS/Template

Post by Mr. Eddster on February 28th 2013, 4:54 am

ENTIRE MESSAGE EDITED:
I made a test site, exact same CSS and templates as my own site. I know only need help with one more thing!!! That is moving the navbar up. That is all I need help with!!! Here is a pic of what I mean:

HERE IS MY TEST SITE:
http://sfb-archives.canadian-forum.com/

If admin info needs to be given out to see my CSS, then I will provide it. I would like this done ASAP!!!
Please help ASAP Forumotion, my members are very excited to start using the drop down bar!

DOUBLE EDIT: I have put the navbar on my site. But I still wish to know how the navbar can be moved it. It would be much appreciated if I could give out my admin info on my TEST SITE to a mod/admin on here, and they can edit through it, on my CSS and the overall_header tempate.

ALSO ANOTHER ISSUE HAS RISEN: The guests can access my drop down navbar, and see all of the links. I dont want that. If someone could solved that, so guests could only see "Home" and "Members" it'd be greatly appreciated!!!

That's how it looks on my browser to CJ11 I'm using firefox, but I'm wondering if he wants the navbar up just a little more to the bottom of the header image, I tried several codes with firebug to no prevail.

You've got more problems then that now, take a look at this screenshot, your ads are being placed on the right-hand side of your entire forum, and by doing so are creating a huge bottom horizontal scrollbar. So you have obviously made some template modifications causing this to happen. The ads are supposed to be where that space is you are wanting to fix, but when the ads aren't there from a popup blocker, or maybe if you pay to have your ads removed you can't see this problem. I didn't see it the first time I viewed your forum because I have ad blocker activated on my firefox browser, but when I turned it off this screenshot is what I seen. Your problem is originating in the template someplace you made a modification. In any event you need to fix this ad placement first. lol

Forumotion logged me out then wouldn't let me log in lol... or i would've responded earlier.
I believe i have fixed the ad problem. Very Happy
Almost positive. Closed/opened my site 10 times, ads were in the right place

Why does this need to be so hard lol. All I want to do is move a damned navbar up!!!

I just checked your forum and the ad is still like my screenshot shows, its on the right-hand side of your forum creating a horizontal scroolbar for my monitor which is {1024 x 768) about full width of your forum. The ad is supposed to be under your navigation bar. Try logging out and viewing it as a guest, and reloading the page by pressing F5 on your keyboard, make sure you have disabled any ad blockers.

Refreshing your page has nothing to do with it, you have to "LOGOUT" and view the forum as a guest so you can see the ads.

That is strange, we need some more people to check and post what they see. For me as you can see from my screenshot the ads are on the complete other side of the forum creating a horizontal bottom scrollbar making your forum twice as wide as it should be. So I would suggest that is the root cause of your original question and problem. Fix that and your original problem should resolve itself.

yep thats my test site, but it has the same CSS as my normal site Wink Smile

EDIT: For runawayhorse: my normal site the ads are fine. Ive literally logged in and out and refreshed the page 30 times now. I asked other users to do it as well and there are no problems
maybe its just the test site? Dont ask me why, CSS and templates are the same!!!
Double edit: Well, around the 35th refresh, and the ad is misplaced. I dont get this. At all. Most ads are OK but then this happens
cant figure it out
if forumotion doesnt help soon i might just say its solved and create a new topic Confused

So you seen the same thing I was talking about with the ad over on the right-hand side of your forum?? I am using the latest version of Firefox, and Scorpions profile says hes using Chrome, and Chrome is made by google so maybe Chrome works better for google ads. In any event it messes up for other browsers so it needs to be fixed. I think you will find the answer to solving you original problem with the navbar by fixing this issue. I just don't know how to fix it.

Why don't you make it easy on us and post both your test site URL and your regular forum URL and tell us which ones has the problems so we can differentiate.

Then how would you explain that my firefox is not showing it correctly? And how would you explain that Mr. Eddster just said "the ad is misplaced" after reloading the page several times. And before you answer I would point out that I'm using the latest version of firefox, I have absolutely no problems with my computer, I'm experienced with computers and website designing, and of course surfing the internet.

Here is the screenshot:

This thread seems to be going off topic guys... We all know some people have problems with the add, some don't
I just want to know how to make it so the ads are correctly placed.

You want somebody to come dropping out of the sky and wave there magic wand and fix it? We are not going off topic we were trying find out why your navbar is not going up like your original question was about, I have said twice I think its related to the ad being misplaced, so don't tell me I'm going off topic, better yet, I'll bow out of this altogether, its your problem you fix it.

Runaway, thank you for your assistance in trying to solve this problem, but your last post was unwarranted.

Mr. Eddster:

As you can see from the attached screenshot from my Mac, both my browsers are showing the ads in the proper location, this is from my laptop. The previous screenshot was from my desktop.

Chrome : Top FireFox: Bottom

What im asking is how to fix this. I dont know how to fix this, and i wish to.

EDIT: I Have nearly got it, i am very close I think!!!

That is my test site. Yes I know the ads will be misplaced everytime but look at the difference from before. If the ads were simple moved over, out problem will be solved!!! Very Happy
